£350 / Case£58.33 / BottleDuty Status: In BondAvailability: En Primeur2016 Enzo Boglietti, Dolcetto d’Alba, Tiglineri 6x75cl
"Vivid dark ruby colour. The 2016 Tigli Neri opens with fragrant berries and dark fruit notes followed by nuances of aromatic herbs and flowers. The palate has pleasant fruit aromatics surrounded by... grippy tannins. It shows a sturdy frame, it is tense and wild with a bright acidity and great length.
We recommend decanting." Enzo Boglietti Tasting Notes

"Trademark smoky nose. Nice structure here and a bit more sweet fruit to support the powerful tannins. Nice mouth-watering acidity lifts the wine and this should age and really come into itself nicely." 17 pts., Alistair Cooper, jancisrobinson.com

"Light, bright ruby colour with an orange hue. Beautifully lifted bouquet of red and dark fruit, fresh
rose and some spice. A classy version of Brunate that combines austerity, vibrant fruit... characters
and fine tannins. Persistent, fulfilling and exquisitely varietal. The silty clay soil with little organic matter is responsible for the powerful yet austere structure, the large clay patches give the complexity of flavours and aromas." Enzo Boglietti Tasting Note

"Open-knit and friendly, this cheerful Brunello leads with cherry and blackberry. Charmingly accented by flint and pepper, the palate offers lots of crunchy, fresh acidity. Smooth overall, with just... a touch of astringency showing up on the finish, it will make for delightful drinking over the next five to seven years." 90 pts., Michaela Morris, decanter.com

"The purity and polish here shows wonderfully the moment you stick your nose in the glass, with complex aromas of plums, berries, cedar and violets. It’s full-bodied and ever so refined with... elegant and intense tannins that take you deep into the wine. This is a thoughtful and finely crafted Brunello that needs time to show you its greatness. From organically grown grapes. Try after 2024." 98 Points, James Suckling (Nov, 2021)

“Remarkably pretty and poised yet packed full of potential, the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino lifts with grace and elegance, showing dusty roses, wild strawberry, white smoke and hints of wet stone.... It’s silky and refined, with cooling acids and minerals giving way to savoury red berries and spice. Energy remains high, even as fine tannins create a classically dry and youthful expression, tapering off to violet florals, mocha and a hint of licorice that seems to linger for well over a minute. This is deceptively drinkable today, yet it has all of the necessary components to gain in weight and complexity over a decade or more of cellaring.” 94 pts., Eric Guido, vinous.com

"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino from La Magia keeps you coming back to the glass, displaying musky cherries dusted in shavings of cedar and pine, with hints of candied orange in the mix. It’s... silky in feel with sweet red fruits and spices further accentuated by vibrant acids. Fine tannins come forward through the close; yet energy remains high, as this fruit-forward and seductive Brunello tapers off to hints of cinnamon and clove” 91 pts., Eric Guido, vinous.com
£165 / Case£27.50 / BottleDuty Status: In BondAvailability: Immediate2016 Les Tourelles de Longueville, Pauillac 6x75cl
The 2016 Les Tourelles de Longueville is a blend of 58% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot (from young vines that are destined to go into the Grand Vin one day,... according to Christian Seely), matured in 30% new oak for 12 months. It offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, just a touch of melted tar with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a powerful opening, dense black fruit tinged with graphite, a solid Deuxième Vin with a slightly aloof finish (at least at the moment). There is a pleasant graphite note lingering long on the aftertaste that completes a fine Pauillac to enjoy over the next 12-15 years. Drink 2021 – 2040. 90-92 pts., Neal Martin, Vinous

“The 2016 Les Forts de Latour is the clear highlight among these new releases from Latour. The first thing that is evident about the 2016 is the pedigree of the vintage. Undisputedly great. Readers... will find a potent, dark Forts de Latour endowed with massive concentration and tons of depth. The 2016 won't be ready to drink anytime soon, but it holds tons of promise. Hints of gravel, sage, licorice and pencil shavings linger. The 2016 was impressive a few years ago. It is even better today." 96 points, Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com
