VM91-93
Domaine Joseph Voillot holds 10 hectares of vineyards spanning the communes of Volnay and Pommard. Jean Pierre Charlot’s wines offer understatement and elegance, and in 2020 they have also... delivered fruit richness and an intensity rarely captured in Volnay and Pommard. These wines are impossible to ignore, showing modern classicism whilst perfectly expressing the wine’s unique terroirs. These are wines which speak so eloquently of their individual sites and are the essence of pinot noir. 2021 Claudie Jobard, Pommard, Vieilles Vignes 6x75cl

A great example of the work done in Pommard by quality-conscious producers these days. This once unyielding appellation requiring tons of patience now yields wines of much, much for carefully... extracted fruit, and the result, as can be seen in Claudie’s Pommard Vieilles Vignes, is a pinot that retains natural power and structure from the terroir but also immediately delivers pleasure thanks to the aromatic, expressive style of fruit. A commune to be rediscovered for sure, and this is the perfect place to start. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Claudie Jobard, Pommard Premier Cru, Les Charmots 6x75cl

A remarkable terroir, oriented south/south-east and planted with very old vines (dating back to 1919), producing a tender, rich, concentrated, age-worthy pinot noir.

2020 Claudie Jobard, Pommard Premier Cru, Les Charmots 12x75cl

The wines of Pommard are renowned for their structured and powerful cuvées and this example is no disappointment. A nose of fragrant cherry precedes an intense framed mouthful of deep berry fruit... and blackcurrants, with great balancing acidity and length. It is of course very young, yet is already showing signs that with time this will be absolutely delicious.

2020 Claudie Jobard, Bourgogne Côte d’Or Milliane 12x75cl

Sourced from 70-to 80-year-old vines from around the Pommard area, this is an outstanding example of the relatively new “superior” Bourgogne rouge appellation of Côte d’Or. It is big and... forward with powerful toasted cherry fruit, yet with an underlying delicate structure of real class. Undoubtedly a heavyweight in lightweight territory. Not to be missed.
