2020 Thibault Liger-Belair, Bourgogne, Grands Chaillots 6x75cl

VM87-89
A mix of fruit from Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, now with Hautes-Côtes fruit to impart freshness, the 2020 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots has a slightly earthy, ash-tinged bouquet that... takes time to unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with tart red fruit, touch of marmalade and quince with a fresh but not long finish. Fine. Neal Martin, Vinous

2022 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

Fleshy, with firm tannins, and juicy acidity, the 2022 Bourgogne rouge from Domaine Livera is ambitiously structured showing delicious cherry fruit at its core and succulence on the finish. Like many 2022s it is delicious now but this one needs waiting another 5 to 7 years to really deliver on this early promise. (Mr.Wheeler Wine)

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

Half the crop was lost this year but Livera’s Bourgogne rouge lost none of its joyful quality in this vintage. Super pretty core of red juicy fruit, fleshy with a nice long finish, and some hints of that liquorice that points to fruit grown on the Gevrey terroir. Very hard to beat for the value it delivers. 2022 Domaine Joseph Voillot, Bourgogne, Rouge 6x75cl

The entire Voillot range shines in 2022, and recent acclaim from no less a critic than Neal Martin has not caused Etienne to deviate from his modest and highly sensible approach to the management of... the estate. As a result, the value delivered by Domaine Joseph Voillot is nigh on unbeatable across the portfolio. The Bourgogne rouge is the perfect cuvée to discover the domaine, so fresh and juicy, with crunchy red fruit, subtle floral notes, and just a hint of winter spice in the background. Such a fine texture, too, yet for all its prettiness and delicacy it lingers satisfyingly on the finish. We often call this a baby Volnay, and the moniker is, once again, an apt description. "The 2022 Bourgogne Côte D'Or has a vivacious nose with Morello cherries and crushed strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins. It is very fresh with a crunchy, crisp finish with impressive sapidity. Bon vin." 88 pts., Neal Martin, www.vinous.com

2022 Dominique Lafon, Bourgogne, Blanc 12x75cl

Here, the usual blend of two excellent vineyards; Femelottes in Puligny and 70-year-old vines in Grandes Coutures in Meursault. A generous 2022 vintage showing delicious ripeness in a Bourgogne Blanc that is always so well crafted, with Meursault richness so perfectly countered by Puligny raciness. (Mr.Wheeler)

"A deep mid purple, with unusual intensity – this includes Monthelie and 1er Cru. An interesting mix of sweet raspberry, some blackcurrant, juicy cherry. Medium bodied, a fine balance between tannins and acidity alongside the abundant fruit." 87-89 pts., Jasper Morris MW, www.insideburgundy.com

2022 Domaine Anne-Francoise Gros, Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

“Crafted from fruit grown in Pommard and Volnay, this serious Bourgogne pinot noir combines the structure and power of the former, with the aromatics and delicate texture of the latter. Lifted... floral aromatics lead on to a juicy core of red cherry fruit, framed by fine-grained tannins. This will be delicious from 2-3 years in the bottle but keep it for 6 to 8 years the added tertiary notes will really take it into another dimension. This is excellent value!” Mr Wheeler Wine

2022 Domaine Anne-Francoise Gros, Bourgogne, Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc 6x75cl

“A small parcel near Comblanchien provides the fruit for this cuvée. While acidities are remarkably lively in the warm and sunny 2022 vintage, whites from vineyards with a little altitude, as is the case here, have delivered the most impressive results. Superb appley and white stone in this delightfully refreshing white." Mr Wheeler Wine

2021 Hubert Lamy, Bourgogne, Chataigners 6x75cl

As can be expected with Olivier's wines, there is tremendous minerality and spine of acidity in this focused, lean and precise Bourgogne Blanc. Even this entry level white requires plenty of patience... and will age beautifully. A proper introduction into Olivier's style, and if you wonder what the fuss is about, you owe it to yourself to pick up this 2021 Bourgogne Chataigners.

2022 Patrick Javillier, Bourgogne, Oligocene Blanc 6x75cl

“A team (and customers) favourite for many, many years, the Puligny-Meursault Oligocène blend demonstrates its breed once more; superb mid-palate weight, creamy with lifted citrus fruit, followed... by a long, minerally finish and just a hint of bitterness that will make this a dream to match with food. This is very special and retains its place as one of the very finest Bourgogne Blanc out there.” Drink 2025-2030 Mr Wheeler Wine

“A strong addition to our portfolio three vintage ago, Forgets continues to deliver Meursault class at highly sensible Bourgogne Blanc prices. The 2022 is beguiling with its hints of honeyed pear... and citrus notes throughout. Beautifully balanced and a great example of the 2022s approachability, this will not require you to be patient, as it will drink perfectly by the time it lands in the late Autumn. An unmissable Bourgogne Blanc!” Drink 2025-2027 Mr Wheeler Wine

2020 Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut, Bourgogne, Hautes Cotes de Nuits Rouge 6x75cl

JM87-88JR16
Offered by Mr.Wheeler for only the third vintage and one of the most exciting recent additions to our portfolio, Philippe and Vincent Lécheneaut’s ten-hectare estate in Nuits-St-Georges was... created by their father, Fernand Lécheneaut in the 1980s. An extensive range of the finest villages of the Côte de Nuits is produced here; we have picked what we think are the best in 2020 - perfect expressions of pinot noir – rich, sumptuous and elegant, these are modern wines made with minimum intervention that combine purity of fruit with stunning terroir expression. Hautes-Côtes de Nuits have been particularly delicious in the past few, warm, vintages. This example from Léchéneaut is gorgeously moreish and juicy, with excellent ripeness and that spine of acidity that can be expected from vineyards higher up in altitude. Dark cherry fruit and fine-grained tannins combine beautifully here.

2021 Benjamin Leroux, Bourgogne, Blanc 6x75cl

In this cuvée Benjamin masterfully blends fruit from mostly Meursault, with some higher altitude chardonnay from the hills above Beaune. This adds real fitness and gives a Bourgogne Blanc of real... class. Large, old oak fermenting vessels and lees ageing help keep this wine remarkably fresh and elegant, with just a hint of warm butter and the fresh zing of citrus loveliness. Superb value. 2021 Benjamin Leroux, Bourgogne, Rouge 6x75cl

Made primarily from fruit taken from the Côte de Beaune and aged mostly in foudres with a small percentage of new wood, this has a delicious morello cherry and hedgerow fruit nose. Its intensity and balance are exceptional for an entry level cuvee, and it is persistent with its pleasure-giving already.

2021 Jean-Marc Pillot, Bourgogne, Haut Champs Blanc 6x75cl

"Mix of domaine grapes from Chassagne-Montrachet and Côte Chalonnaise, with purchased grapes from the Hautes Côtes de Nuits and below Puligny. This has been the typical blend since 2019. Pale... colour, with a lifted fresh apple and greengage nose. Bouncing energy, good acidity, faintest gunflint, but above all really appealing fruit." Jasper Morris MW, www.insideburgundy.com

2021 Philippe Bouzereau, Bourgogne, Cote d’Or Rouge 6x75cl

2021 Philippe Bouzereau, Bourgogne, Cote d’Or Blanc 6x75cl

A great introduction to Philippe's House style, this Bourgogne Côte d'Or is produced with no new oak to promote clean, fresh, pure flavours - and it achieves that goal. Fresh, rounded with a... deliciously juicy style, this is so delicious right now, it will be hard to keep it any longer than a year or two - but it could improve with a couple of years in the bottle.
