2021 Philippe Bouzereau, Bourgogne, Cote d’Or Blanc 6x75cl

A great introduction to Philippe's House style, this Bourgogne Côte d'Or is produced with no new oak to promote clean, fresh, pure flavours - and it achieves that goal. Fresh, rounded with a... deliciously juicy style, this is so delicious right now, it will be hard to keep it any longer than a year or two - but it could improve with a couple of years in the bottle. 2021 Domaine Lecheneaut, Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

The wines of the Hautes Côtes de Nuits have been particularly delightful in the past few vintages, and this example from Léchéneaut in 2021 is no exception. Deep and complex on the nose with... whiffs of dark cherry and a hint of anise leads to a palate packed with expressive berry fruit. There is, however, an underlying delicacy and zing of acidity that completes this truly lovely wine. Go search out some confit de canard and settle in for something quite delicious. Chapeau Vincent! 2019 Patrick Javillier, Bourgogne, Oligocene Blanc 12x75cl

This is a wine which almost needs no introduction - perennial "Must buy" as it is. Marion's "mini-Meursault" is always one of the best value wines of the vintage, and is as good as ever in 2019.... Partners the breadth and depth of fruit of Meursault with the precision and elegance of Puligny in the next village. Supreme class, freshness and harmony as ever in this cuvée.

2021 Claudie Jobard, Bourgogne, Milliane 12x75cl

One of the absolute bargains of our portfolio over the past few years, this cuvée crafted from vines in Pommard has it all; juicy, crunchy fruit, a soft-edged texture and subtly grippy structure to see it through the next 5 years’ ageing. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini, Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

JR16+
This superb value, Baby-Gevrey from a single parcel of vines just below the village (and just outside of the appellation's border) delivers quality plenty of Gevrey producers would be happy with for... their Village cuvée... 100% destemmed and therefore with a lovely fleshy opulence, at its core the ripe black fruit and juicy, moreish texture yet loads of fresh.

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

Half the crop was lost this year but Livera’s Bourgogne rouge lost none of its joyful quality in this vintage. Super pretty core of red juicy fruit, fleshy with a nice long finish, and some hints of that liquorice that points to fruit grown on the Gevrey terroir. Very hard to beat for the value it delivers. 2020 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

A new find for Mr.Wheeler in the 2019 vintage and one we are pleased to follow since then; Domaine Livera is widely considered the “next Burgundian star” tellingly both by consumers of their... exceptional wines together with their winemaking contemporaries. The Livera family have been settled on the Domaine for almost 100 years, but Damien, who has been in charge for 13 years now, has taken the wines to a different level altogether. His style is one of purity, precision of fruit and impressive depth, quite reminiscent of the wines produced by Arnaud Mortet (who is a close friend and advisor). This is an up-and-coming address and very much one to watch. Simply outstanding this year; so pretty, floral with a background of juicy black fruit that is gorgeously textured; joyful, sophisticated and poised on the finish. A very, very fine Bourgogne rouge from vines across Gevrey-Chambertin.

2020 Sylvie Esmonin, Bourgogne, Cuvee Sylvie 6x75cl

VM85-87
Located in the old part of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, at the foot of the legendary Clos Saint Jacques vineyard, since 1988 the scrupulous Sylvie cultivates 7 ha under her own name. Her deep... knowledge of the vines and meticulous vinification techniques result in wines of great maturity and intensity, capable of great ageing potential. As you'd expect, these wines are in very high demand and Mr.Wheeler are delighted to be offering a selection of Sylvie’s wines for the third vintage in a row. We urge you to snap up a case or two of these sensational wines, whilst you can. Sylvie delivers a fine Bourgogne Rouge in 2020 - for the first time the cuvée includes some Morey-St-Denis fruit, and it shows in the lightly spicy edge that lifts up the core of raspberry coulis with hints of black cherry. Early picking has once again given the spine of acidity making this so moreish. It will age well mid-term - but only if you manage to resist its youthful charm.

2021 Jean-Marc Pillot, Bourgogne, Haut Champs Blanc 6x75cl

"Mix of domaine grapes from Chassagne-Montrachet and Côte Chalonnaise, with purchased grapes from the Hautes Côtes de Nuits and below Puligny. This has been the typical blend since 2019. Pale... colour, with a lifted fresh apple and greengage nose. Bouncing energy, good acidity, faintest gunflint, but above all really appealing fruit." Jasper Morris MW, www.insideburgundy.com

2021 Benjamin Leroux, Bourgogne, Rouge 6x75cl

Made primarily from fruit taken from the Côte de Beaune and aged mostly in foudres with a small percentage of new wood, this has a delicious morello cherry and hedgerow fruit nose. Its intensity and balance are exceptional for an entry level cuvee, and it is persistent with its pleasure-giving already.

2021 Benjamin Leroux, Bourgogne, Blanc 6x75cl

In this cuvée Benjamin masterfully blends fruit from mostly Meursault, with some higher altitude chardonnay from the hills above Beaune. This adds real fitness and gives a Bourgogne Blanc of real... class. Large, old oak fermenting vessels and lees ageing help keep this wine remarkably fresh and elegant, with just a hint of warm butter and the fresh zing of citrus loveliness. Superb value. 2021 Boyer Martenot, Bourgogne, Blanc 6x75cl

"Vincent's Bourgogne Blanc is quite simply gorgeous this year. Great intensity of flavour thanks to the super-low yields, yet the acidity is lively and the long ageing in concrete eggs has gifted... this cuvée with superb balance and harmony even at this relatively early stage. Fresh, long on the finish, we just wish we had more to offer! Yum." (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2020 Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut, Bourgogne, Hautes Cotes de Nuits Rouge 12x75cl

JM87-88JR16
Offered by Mr.Wheeler for only the third vintage and one of the most exciting recent additions to our portfolio, Philippe and Vincent Lécheneaut’s ten-hectare estate in Nuits-St-Georges was... created by their father, Fernand Lécheneaut in the 1980s. An extensive range of the finest villages of the Côte de Nuits is produced here; we have picked what we think are the best in 2020 - perfect expressions of pinot noir – rich, sumptuous and elegant, these are modern wines made with minimum intervention that combine purity of fruit with stunning terroir expression. Hautes-Côtes de Nuits have been particularly delicious in the past few, warm, vintages. This example from Léchéneaut is gorgeously moreish and juicy, with excellent ripeness and that spine of acidity that can be expected from vineyards higher up in altitude. Dark cherry fruit and fine-grained tannins combine beautifully here.

2020 Thibault Liger-Belair, Bourgogne, Grands Chaillots 6x75cl

VM87-89
A mix of fruit from Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, now with Hautes-Côtes fruit to impart freshness, the 2020 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots has a slightly earthy, ash-tinged bouquet that... takes time to unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with tart red fruit, touch of marmalade and quince with a fresh but not long finish. Fine. Neal Martin, Vinous
