2022 Sylvie Esmonin, Bourgogne, Cuvee Sylvie 6x75cl

JM86-88
"Despite the ripeness always has a good acidity. Deep dark purple, slightly more density of fruit. Still a firm framework behind, strictly structured yet with a natural 13% and plenty of fruit. The sample is on the cold side so may well appear fuller than this when warm." 86-88 pts., Jasper Morris MW, insideburgundy.com

2021 Domaine Lecheneaut, Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

The wines of the Hautes Côtes de Nuits have been particularly delightful in the past few vintages, and this example from Léchéneaut in 2021 is no exception. Deep and complex on the nose with... whiffs of dark cherry and a hint of anise leads to a palate packed with expressive berry fruit. There is, however, an underlying delicacy and zing of acidity that completes this truly lovely wine. Go search out some confit de canard and settle in for something quite delicious. Chapeau Vincent! 2021 Claudie Jobard, Bourgogne, Milliane 12x75cl

One of the absolute bargains of our portfolio over the past few years, this cuvée crafted from vines in Pommard has it all; juicy, crunchy fruit, a soft-edged texture and subtly grippy structure to see it through the next 5 years’ ageing. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

This superb value, Baby-Gevrey from a single parcel of vines just below the village (and just outside of the appellation's border) delivers quality plenty of Gevrey producers would be happy with for... their Village cuvée... 100% destemmed and therefore with a lovely fleshy opulence, at its core the ripe black fruit and juicy, moreish texture yet loads of fresh.

2020 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

A new find for Mr.Wheeler in the 2019 vintage and one we are pleased to follow since then; Domaine Livera is widely considered the “next Burgundian star” tellingly both by consumers of their... exceptional wines together with their winemaking contemporaries. The Livera family have been settled on the Domaine for almost 100 years, but Damien, who has been in charge for 13 years now, has taken the wines to a different level altogether. His style is one of purity, precision of fruit and impressive depth, quite reminiscent of the wines produced by Arnaud Mortet (who is a close friend and advisor). This is an up-and-coming address and very much one to watch. Simply outstanding this year; so pretty, floral with a background of juicy black fruit that is gorgeously textured; joyful, sophisticated and poised on the finish. A very, very fine Bourgogne rouge from vines across Gevrey-Chambertin.

2022 Domaine Joseph Voillot, Bourgogne, Rouge 6x75cl

The entire Voillot range shines in 2022, and recent acclaim from no less a critic than Neal Martin has not caused Etienne to deviate from his modest and highly sensible approach to the management of... the estate. As a result, the value delivered by Domaine Joseph Voillot is nigh on unbeatable across the portfolio. The Bourgogne rouge is the perfect cuvée to discover the domaine, so fresh and juicy, with crunchy red fruit, subtle floral notes, and just a hint of winter spice in the background. Such a fine texture, too, yet for all its prettiness and delicacy it lingers satisfyingly on the finish. We often call this a baby Volnay, and the moniker is, once again, an apt description. Produced from a single parcel of vines in Gevrey-Chambertin, this lovely, uncomplicated pinot fully expresses the warmth of the 2020 vintage. Delightfully forward cherry and damson fruit combine to... give a rich and ripe mouthfeel with soft yet ever-present tannins. However keen you'll be to open a bottle upon arrival, it will continue to provide great drinking pleasure well into the coming decade.

2022 Aurelien Verdet, Bourgogne, Hautes Cotes de Nuits Le Prieure 6x75cl

"The 2022 Bourgogne Routes Cotes de Nuits Le Prieure has an attractive nose of macerated red cherries, crushed strawberry and light sous-bois scents. It just requires a little more intensity. The... palate is a step-up: fine tannins, crisp red fruit, solid focus and a delicate but quite persistent finish. This is well-worth seeking out. Tasted at merchants' 2022 Burgundy tastings in London. " Neal Martin, vinous.com

2022 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

Fleshy, with firm tannins, and juicy acidity, the 2022 Bourgogne rouge from Domaine Livera is ambitiously structured showing delicious cherry fruit at its core and succulence on the finish. Like many 2022s it is delicious now but this one needs waiting another 5 to 7 years to really deliver on this early promise. (Mr.Wheeler Wine)

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

Half the crop was lost this year but Livera’s Bourgogne rouge lost none of its joyful quality in this vintage. Super pretty core of red juicy fruit, fleshy with a nice long finish, and some hints of that liquorice that points to fruit grown on the Gevrey terroir. Very hard to beat for the value it delivers. 2022 Dominique Lafon, Bourgogne, Blanc 12x75cl

Here, the usual blend of two excellent vineyards; Femelottes in Puligny and 70-year-old vines in Grandes Coutures in Meursault. A generous 2022 vintage showing delicious ripeness in a Bourgogne Blanc that is always so well crafted, with Meursault richness so perfectly countered by Puligny raciness. (Mr.Wheeler)

2022 Domaine Anne-Francoise Gros, Bourgogne, Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc 6x75cl

“A small parcel near Comblanchien provides the fruit for this cuvée. While acidities are remarkably lively in the warm and sunny 2022 vintage, whites from vineyards with a little altitude, as is the case here, have delivered the most impressive results. Superb appley and white stone in this delightfully refreshing white." Mr Wheeler Wine

2021 Hubert Lamy, Bourgogne, Chataigners 6x75cl

As can be expected with Olivier's wines, there is tremendous minerality and spine of acidity in this focused, lean and precise Bourgogne Blanc. Even this entry level white requires plenty of patience... and will age beautifully. A proper introduction into Olivier's style, and if you wonder what the fuss is about, you owe it to yourself to pick up this 2021 Bourgogne Chataigners.

2022 Patrick Javillier, Bourgogne, Oligocene Blanc 6x75cl

“A team (and customers) favourite for many, many years, the Puligny-Meursault Oligocène blend demonstrates its breed once more; superb mid-palate weight, creamy with lifted citrus fruit, followed... by a long, minerally finish and just a hint of bitterness that will make this a dream to match with food. This is very special and retains its place as one of the very finest Bourgogne Blanc out there.” Drink 2025-2030 Mr Wheeler Wine

2022 Patrick Javillier, Bourgogne, Forgets Blanc 6x75cl

“A strong addition to our portfolio three vintage ago, Forgets continues to deliver Meursault class at highly sensible Bourgogne Blanc prices. The 2022 is beguiling with its hints of honeyed pear... and citrus notes throughout. Beautifully balanced and a great example of the 2022s approachability, this will not require you to be patient, as it will drink perfectly by the time it lands in the late Autumn. An unmissable Bourgogne Blanc!” Drink 2025-2027 Mr Wheeler Wine

2021 Benjamin Leroux, Bourgogne, Blanc 6x75cl

In this cuvée Benjamin masterfully blends fruit from mostly Meursault, with some higher altitude chardonnay from the hills above Beaune. This adds real fitness and gives a Bourgogne Blanc of real... class. Large, old oak fermenting vessels and lees ageing help keep this wine remarkably fresh and elegant, with just a hint of warm butter and the fresh zing of citrus loveliness. Superb value.
