2023 Chateau Cantemerle 5eme Cru Classe, Haut-Medoc 6x75cl

JR16+
"Nice aromatics, floral and red berry tones. Crisp and crunchy red fruit, high acidity but not too tart which then turns a little creamy with a soft powderiness to the tannins on the finish. This has... a good lift and is well made, with cool fresh tones throughout. It’s still a little lean and austere - fairly light and tapered but has an element of class with lots of drinkability. A yield of 43hl/ha. 4% Petit Verdot completes the blend." 91 pts., Georgina Hindle, decanter.com

This superb value, Baby-Gevrey from a single parcel of vines just below the village (and just outside of the appellation's border) delivers quality plenty of Gevrey producers would be happy with for... their Village cuvée... 100% destemmed and therefore with a lovely fleshy opulence, at its core the ripe black fruit and juicy, moreish texture yet loads of fresh.

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos Village 6x75cl

Darker, more savoury, explosive and spicy, much more muscular and structured than the previous cuvées - we are getting into 1er Cru territory here yet retaining the precision and purity of fruit cosseted in fleshy, juicy texture that is, in my opinion, the hallmark of the estate.
