2018 Enzo Boglietti, Barolo, Brunate 6x75cl

JR16.5
Bright ruby colour with an orange hue. Plentiful aromatics of cherry, violet, tobacco and liquorice. The palate delivers the same exuberance of the bouquet and shows an abundance of fine,... ripe tannins. Balanced and harmoniously structured has a long and and vibrant finish. The silty clay soil with little organic matter is responsible for the powerful yet austere structure, the large clay patches give the complexity of flavours and aromas.

Bright ruby colour. Alluring aromatics of red fruit, liquorice and some mineral notes. Classically structured with an exquisite density, the tannins are beautifully evident but fine and very pleasant. 2019 Prunotto, Barbaresco Secondine 6x75cl

VM92
"The 2019 Barbaresco Secondine is a classy, elegant wine. Sweet perfumed aromatics meld into a core of sweet red cherry fruit, pine, spice, menthol, licorice and tobacco. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2019 has plenty of depth and tons of complexity to match. This is a fine showing." 92 pts., Antonio Galloni, vinous.com

2019 Enzo Boglietti, Barolo, Brunate 6x75cl

DE95
"This Brunate is very complex, with smoky woodland notes, red cherry, pomegranate and liquorice aromas – a very classic signature. The attack is elegant and super-savoury, with vibrant and well... judged tannins that are extremely sweet, fragrant, and dusty yet integrated with the fruit concentration. It displays brillant acidity considering the warmth of Brunate." 95 pts., Aldo Fiordelli, decanter.com

2012 Prunotto, Barolo, Bussia Colonnello Riserva 6x75cl

WE95
"A strong red in color with ruby highlights in color, the wine displays floral aromas of rose petals along with perfectly ripe red fruit (raspberries and pomegranates) and spicy and balsamic notes.... The flavors are intense with full, enveloping and supple tannins and a long and persistent finish and aftertaste. Its solid structure and firm body are an excellent match with meat and game dishes and with cheese." - tasting notes from Prunotto The Bussia cru is one of the most prestigious locations in the township of Monforte, the heart of the Barolo area. Within the confines of the Bussia sub-zone, Prunotto has identified a 2.5 acre plot known by local growers as “Vigna Colonnello” (“the Colonnello vineyard”). The plot enjoys a west-southwestern exposure with vines between 35 and 40 years of age. The soil consists of 25% sand, 25% clay and 50% loam. Given these special characteristics, the Colonnello fruit is fermented and aged on its own to produce a very special Barolo Riserva wine.

2016 Rizzi, Barbaresco, Pajore 6x75cl

JR17.5WE96
"Treiso. Tasted blind. Mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. Concentrated, complex nose with hints of cardamom and nutmeg. Elegant, lively fruit followed by bags of coating, bitter-sweet tannins that... are still a little tough and with marked acidity on the finish, but this has the bones for ageing." 17.5pts., Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com, 14/5/2019

"Light, bright ruby colour with an orange hue. Beautifully lifted bouquet of red and dark fruit, fresh rose and some spice. A classy version of Brunate that combines austerity, vibrant fruit... characters and fine tannins. Persistent, fulfilling and exquisitely varietal. 2020 Elvio Cogno, Barbera d’Alba, Pre-Phylloxera 6x75cl

WE95
“It has a dark, brilliant ruby red color with intense violet reflections. The aromas are enveloping, harmonious and deep, with evident spicy notes at the first impact and fruity notes of raspberry,... strawberry and ripe cherry. Pleasant harmonies of wildflowers on the finish. In the mouth the wine has a great structure, fresh and with excellent acidity and great balance, with an enveloping tannic texture, with flavors that recall black cherry, blackberry and plum.” (Winemaker's tasting note)

2018 G.D. Vajra, Barolo, Bricco delle Viole 6x75cl

RP95
"The 2018 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is not super intense, but it is balanced in its own way. The wine is subdued but complete with softly yielding tannins to support an elegantly streamlined... mouthfeel. Bricco delle Viole is a high and cool growing site in Barolo at 400 to 480 meters in elevation with characteristic Sant'Agata marl soils with fossils. The wine represents a selection of fruit from over seven hectares. With fermentation in steel tank and aging in large Slavonian oak, you are invited to a silky, lifted and beautifully delicate experience with an accessible personality." 95 points, Monica Larner, www.robertparker.com

2017 G.D. Vajra, Barolo, Bricco delle Viole 6x75cl

JR17.5WE96
"Transparent pillar-box red. Powerful nose of dried something. Cherries? Rose petals? Perhaps both. Super-fresh, despite the alcohol, with such great presence in the mouth. It's not nearly ready but... it's clearly destined for great things. Sweet and chewy with a strong mineral undertow. Jewel-bright fruit. Real lift but more powerful than ethereal. Even slightly pungent with a whiff of cordite. Really refreshing health juice. Great stuff." 17.5 pts., Jancis Robinson, 10/3/2021

2018 Giovanni Almondo, Roero, Bric Valdiana 6x75cl

VM92
The Almondo family have been in Piedmont for the past 600 years, yet their foray into winemaking only dates to 1980 when Domenico came up with an ambitious plan to create top quality wine from their... family vineyard. The result is superb, and the Roero Bric is a Nebbiolo-based red cuvée that will age beautifully and represents a stunning value alternative to the more famous names across the Tanaro river, Barbaresco or Barolo. The 2021 exhibits tell-tale floral and sweet yet crunchy red cherry aromatics, with hints of peppery spice. Lovely mouthfill and power, this is very pleasant now and will improve for the next 5 to 7 years. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2016 Enzo Boglietti, Barolo, Case Nere 6x75cl

JR17
"Trademark smoky nose. Nice structure here and a bit more sweet fruit to support the powerful tannins. Nice mouth-watering acidity lifts the wine and this should age and really come into itself... nicely." 17 pts., Alistair Cooper, jancisrobinson.com "Great, bright radiant ruby red. On the nose, pomegranate, wild raspberries, orange zest and light leather notes. Vibrant, juicy texture and clear red berry fruit, spreads smooth and velvety over the tongue, without losing its Nebbiolo character, exciting-salty finish." 95 pts., Othmar Kiem and Simon Staffler, Falstaff.com, 22/10/2022

2018 Elvio Cogno, Barolo, Cascina Nuova 6x75cl

JR17+RP93
"“The 2018 Barolo Cascina Nuova is fine-tuned with plenty of wild berry, cassis, grilled herb and crushed stone. The aromas are quite classic for Nebbiolo, but what stands out here is the... directness and freshness with which they are delivered. The tannins are tucked carefully inside the smooth, silky character of this elegant wine. 20,000 bottles were produced.” 93 pts., Monica Larner, robertparker.com

2018 Elvio Cogno, Barolo, Ravera 6x75cl

RP94
“The Elvio Cogno 2018 Barolo Ravera is becoming one of the most important wines in Novello, and it performs very nicely in this more challenging vintage. In fact, 2018 helps to cement Ravera's... steadfast reputation precisely because it performs so well despite spells of humidity and heat. The wine shows small-berry detailing with rust and crushed stone at the back. There is a point of bitterness that accompanies the tannins of this full-bodied wine. Production is 15,000 bottles.” 94 pts., Monica Larner, robertparker.com

2021 Bruno Giacosa, Roero, Arneis 6x75cl

JR17
A delightful simplicity here that also preserves a great inner freshness and complexity. Tropical fruit perfumes with flavours of papaya, citrus and Williams pear. There's also an inner richness that... has good fruit weight and concentration. Expect mineral tones to rise to more prominence over the next year or so. Hard to imagine a white varietal more perfectly suited for the table - we should all be drinking more Arneis!

2020 Bruno Giacosa, Barbera d’Alba 6x75cl

The 2021 is already showing the characteristics of a solar vintage, being very different from the 2019 and 2020. The 2021 yielded a Barbera of rich character, with great drinkability and structure. Dense and fleshy, accompanied by freshness of the fruit and velvety tannins.
