2020 Domaine Gerard Thomas, Saint-Aubin, Champ Tirant 12x75cl

This single vineyard St Aubin is a real treat. It is a fresh, buttery citrus mouthful with a lovely racing acidity. It is very refreshing and joyful is a superb example of village St Aubin at it best.

2020 Domaine des Malandes, Chablis Grand Cru, Les Clos 6x75cl

André and Gabrielle Tremblay harvested their first grapes in the Fourchaume vineyard in 1949. They passed on what is now Domaine des Malandes to their daughter, who in turn bequeathed the estate to... her children Richard and Amandine, who are now at the helm of this excellent Domaine. The wines here shine in the 2020 vintage, and manage to combine the minerality, precision and classicality of traditional Chablis, with a touch more roundness, expression and generosity. The Premiers and Grands Crus are a beacon of quality. Often considered a candidate for the greatest Grand Cru vineyard of all, Les Clos typically produces some of the longest-lived wines from the commune, and this example, made from 50-year-old vines, certainly exhibits all the qualities it needs to evolve gracefully for the next decade at least.

2020 Domaine des Malandes, Chablis Premier Cru, Vau de Vey 6x75cl

VM90
Always a very approachable premier cru, Vau de Vey in 2020 shows delicious citrus peel and green apple, with a lovely richness to the mid-palate and a long, pithy finish. An excellent example from the village, and great value to boot.

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Marsannay 6x75cl

2021 is a particularly good year for Marsannay, and this one stopped us in our tracks. Once again from this Domaine this is super juicy, yet now we are seeing power and ripe intensity, real depth and a long, fresh finish - this is absolutely gorgeous. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos Village 6x75cl

Darker, more savoury, explosive and spicy, much more muscular and structured than the previous cuvées - we are getting into 1er Cru territory here yet retaining the precision and purity of fruit cosseted in fleshy, juicy texture that is, in my opinion, the hallmark of the estate. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Evocelles 6x75cl

This year Les Evocelles is particularly mineral, linear and precise, and while it continues in the very moreish juicy style of the Domaine there is excellent ripeness and power, and oodles of the Gevrey liquorice notes to accompany the ripe cherries. So delicious, and ambitious, too. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Fixin, Rouge 6x75cl

This has been one of the best “punches above its weight” cuvée of our portfolio for a few years now, and the 2021 continues the trend - stunning fruit, silkily-textured yet with a spicy edge, superb energy, really expressive and perfumed, with a glorious finish. A must-have. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 6x75cl

Expressive, dark, spicy fruit that is silky in texture and nuanced with wisps of aniseed and clove. Remarkable length and precision with a subtle, underlying power. Another great and Grand Cru achievement by Livera. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Cote de Nuits-Villages 6x75cl

Crafted from fruit grown mostly in Brochon, a commune that, apart from Côtes de Nuits Village, can also produce Gevrey, Fixin and Bourgogne rouge - everything bar its own appellation! What does this one tastes like? Glorious! Dark, rich, juicy, mouth-filling with a beautifully-judged, delicately grippy structure. Superb.

2021 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

Half the crop was lost this year but Livera’s Bourgogne rouge lost none of its joyful quality in this vintage. Super pretty core of red juicy fruit, fleshy with a nice long finish, and some hints of that liquorice that points to fruit grown on the Gevrey terroir. Very hard to beat for the value it delivers. 2019 Jean-Jacques Girard, Savigny-les-Beaune Premier Cru, Aux Fourneaux 6x75cl

JR16
"Cask sample. Mid crimson. Aroma of sweet oak spice, invitingly fruity – red fruits. Creamy, velvet-like texture, juicy and fresh, lively too. Just a very slight bitterness on the finish, as with the straight Savigny, but that does increase the freshness." 16pts., Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com

2020 Domaine Albert Bichot (Long-Depaquit), Chablis Grand Cru, Moutonne 6x75cl

JM93-96JR17.5+
*ON ALLOCATION - £570 per case of 6 bottles IB* Domaine Long-Depaquit can be traced back to 1791 when Jean Depaquit and his brother Simon moved to Chablis. They purchased vineyards and developed... their domaine into one of the most renowned producers of Chablis today. Now owned by Albert Bichot in Beaune, Domaine Long-Depaquit offers an impressive range of Premier and Grand Crus. A sustainable approach, limited yields and skilful winemaking creates incredibly invigorating and mineral-edged wines. ‘La Moutonne’, a monopole in the heart of the Grand Cru vineyards, between Vaudésir and Les Preuses is one of their most celebrated cuvées, known for its incredible precision, elegance and staying power. Whichever cuvée you choose, these are delicious, mineral rich Chardonnays of the highest order. Opening the proceedings at a Bichot tasting in London, the 2020 La Moutonne quite simply blew us away. Crushed oyster shell and citrus on the nose, followed on the palate by a superb energy with an exquisite texture. Laser-like, yet with excellent weight and power on the long finish, this is very, very special.

2021 Domaine Rossignol-Trapet, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, Petite Chapelle 6x75cl

"The four-hectare Petite Chapelle vineyard is one of the easternmost Premier Crus in Gevrey-Chambertin and lies just below the Chapelle-Chambertin grand cru itself. We loved this wine when we tasted... it at the Domaine in November. It has a very floral nose with hints of gentle and seductive oak, and wonderful sprightly acidity. The cherry and stone fruit palate has a spicy and powerful underbelly, and its saline minerality rounds things off to provide truly pleasurable experience." (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Domaine Rossignol-Trapet, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, Clos Prieur 6x75cl

"Delicate and refined, it provides the yin to the yang of its more robust neighbour, Petite Chapelle, giving us once again an open and aromatic style of Gevrey. There is a great weight of fruit with... plenty of tension and underlying power, but it is overlaid with a real elegance and subtly that sets it apart from its more muscular compatriots. Delightful." 2021 Domaine Michel Magnien, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 6x75cl

"Deeply aromatic, intense, layers of strawberry and cherry fruit, fine tannins in a wine brimming with class and the potential for this class to only heighten with age. An exceptional wine from an exceptional Grand Cru. Outstanding." (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2018 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini, Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 12x75cl

2018 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vieilles Vignes 12x75cl

JM91-93
"50% whole bunch, 30% new wood. Dark centre with fresher purple rim. More fruit than stems on the nose, indeed the ripe fruit swells beautifully across the palate, in a bouncy dark cherry style, reaching out towards a long supple finish infused with the briary notes of the whole bunches. Quite long." 91-93 pts., Jasper Morris MW

2019 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, La Perriere 6x75cl

JM90-93
Darker fruit, 50% whole bunch, one third new wood which is standard for the Heresztyn 1ers crus. More crimson than purple. Fine even red purple, a little spice at the back, maybe a touch meaty too, good weight a medium bodied Gevrey with some persistence.

2019 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, Champonnet 6x75cl

JM92-95
"Delicious gorgeous purple. 100% whole bunch but smothered by the fruit. A balanced headiness if you like, and beautifully attractive. The stems add a little structure, almost some muscle to the back, which I think is valuable in these richer years." 92-95 pts., Jasper Morris MW

2020 Patrick Javillier, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 6x75cl

JR17.5+
*ON ALLOCATION - £675 per case of 6 bottles IB* Undoubtedly the jewel in the Domaine’s crown, Javillier’s Corton-Charlemagne comes from a tiny climat called Les Pougets, on the hill of Corton.... It is undeniably rich and powerful, but with an underlying restraint that will be shaken off with time. There are ripe apple notes and a layered complexity with hints of hazelnut. When coupled with its incredible fineness and steely dry backbone, this is a most wonderful wine that will become an absolute classic. Outstanding – and great value when compared to other Côtes d’Or Grand Cru.
