2009 Chateau Coufran, Haut-Medoc 12x75cl
JR16.5
"Rich dark plum fruit but also meaty and savoury – a wine with attitude. Smooth and pretty dense, just about fresh. (JH)" 16.5 points, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com

"A little more smokily reductive than the Champ Tirant but still toasty on the palate. Rich, sweetly oaky but still fresh. A very definite style and still very well balanced by the freshness. Somehow a bit obvious but well done in that style. Comforting. " 16.5 pts., Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com

"Cask sample. Bright crimson. Indistinct nose. But a very juicy appealing palate in which the fruit almost disguises the polished tannins." 16.5 pts., Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com

Beautifully expressive, floral with a gorgeous core of violets, followed on the palate by a richly-fruited core complemented by savoury, meaty, umami notes on the finish. Gently grippy with ripe and impressively fine-grained tannins, the structure is perfect for this to peak between 2027 and 2030. (Mr Wheeler Tasting note)

JM90-92JR16.5
A blend of grapes from four vineyards in the appellation where the vines are between 60 and 90 years old. This is wonderfully aromatic with whiffs of strawberry and brambles but also having a distinct discretion and subtlety that begs further ageing. Gentle hints of 30% new oak and a lovely tannic structure frames a truly excellent wine.

"60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample.
Smudgy rim and mid crimson. Not too dense and quite Margaux in build. Fresh with sufficient ripe fruit for the... far-from-excessive acidity. Quite long and subtle with a bone-dry finish. A transparent wine not as intricately woven as the Rauzan-Ségla but a very typical Margaux. A decidedly pretty wine and I know from experience how well Siran can age…" 16.5 pts., Jancis Robinson

"70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot. Cask sample.
Pretty nose with what appears to be a good concentration of fruit. Pure and precise on the palate, the tannins smooth and rounded. Compact and harmonious with adequate mid-palate fruit and length on the finish. Bravo." 16.5 pts., James Lawther MW, jancisrobinson.com

Offered by Mr.Wheeler for only the third vintage and one of the most exciting recent additions to our portfolio, Philippe and Vincent Lécheneaut’s ten-hectare estate in Nuits-St-Georges was... created by their father, Fernand Lécheneaut in the 1980s. An extensive range of the finest villages of the Côte de Nuits is produced here; we have picked what we think are the best in 2020 - perfect expressions of pinot noir – rich, sumptuous and elegant, these are modern wines made with minimum intervention that combine purity of fruit with stunning terroir expression.
Les Damodes is undoubtedly among the best, most consistently performing premier crus in our portfolio. Here, the 2020 is a beautifully structured yet velvety red burgundy, with sublime, lifted aromatics, plenty of floral notes to accompany the ripe fruit, and a minerally finish. It's supreme value, too, offering an upper echelon of Burgundian class at a remarkably approachable price point.

A powerful yet delicate, beautifully balanced ripe cherry nose leads you to a perfectly crafted juicy and slightly spicy palate with gentle hints of a freshly lit “Romeo y Julieta” wafting through. This is a serious wine with great class and finesse. Be sure to let alone a while before drinking and reward your patience beyond all expection.
