Description

“Juicy, upbeat, so clean and pristine, Fun, fruity, flavourful but nothing overdone. Sleek and easy to enjoy. Ripe dark blackcurrant aromas on the nose with dark chocolate, plums and black cherries. Deep, softly seductive. Hints of wild flowers and some saltiness. Ripe and clean, juicy but a calm and cool profile – blueberries and chalky cherries with a mineral bite on the finish. I like the texture, smooth and layered, not rich or plush but there’s a soft chew and just great energy. Harmonious. Ageing 40% amphora, 60% barrels, 30% new oak. 3.75pH. Tasted twice. A yield of 29hl/ha.” 92 pts., Georgina Hindle, decanter.com

Delivery & Storage

Delivery

We generally use specialised fine wine delivery couriers rather than standard couriers, giving a much higher level of care and accuracy in delivering fine wines safely to you. Wines can be delivered duty-paid to UK addresses upon payment of the required duty, VAT, delivery and storage charges (if applicable). Duty and VAT are as set by HMRC at the time of delivery. Delivery charges are based on number of cases to be delivered and are standard for all UK addresses except highlands and islands. Please ask for a quotation for highlands and islands, transfers to another bonded warehouse and for international transfers.

Please read our Delivery page for more details.

Storage

Mr.Wheeler’s Private Reserves offer perfect storage conditions for your fine wine until you are ready to drink or sell it. Our in-bond facilities are temperature and moisture-controlled, fully insured at replacement value, and accessible whenever you want. At Mr.Wheeler’s specialist wine storage facility in Burton-Upon-Trent, all private client reserves are marked with a unique rotation number as required by HM Revenue & Customs for bonded goods. In addition, each case of wine is clearly identifiable, confirming your ownership.

Please read our Fine Wine Storage page for more details.

2025 Chateau Montrose 2eme Cru Classe, Saint-Estephe 6x75cl

AG95-97DE97JA97NM98-100WA98-100
"The 2025 Montrose only comes from the Terrace IV, as has been the way since the 2023 vintage. It was picked from August 29 and finished not until September 20, so quite a long harvest, 16 days of... picking between those dates. This vintage is matured in 60% new oak. This has another very intense nose with a potent graphite element that infuses the black fruit, beautifully defined but unapologetically classical in style. Wow. The purity of fruit is exceptional. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, very chiselled tannins, exquisite black fruit loaded with minéralité. So much freshness and vibrancy, gentle but insistent grip, very precise and refined on the finish, this is a Montrose that will rank as one for the ages. Wow (again). 2022 Chateau d’Issan 3eme Cru Classe, Margaux 6x75cl

WI95-97+
“A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot, with a yield of 30 hl/ha and aging in 50% new oak, d’Issan 2022 has a pH of 3.67 and a TPI of... 72. It is deep garnet-purple in color and comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant notes of crème de cassis, baked blackberries, and plum preserves, plus suggestions of tilled soil, clove oil, candied violets, and charcoal. The full-bodied palate has a firm structure of wonderfully ripe, fine-grained tannins and lovely tension supporting the dense, muscular black fruits, with a long finish and loads of floral and mineral sparks. Beautiful!” 95-97+ pts., Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent

2023 Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande, Saint-Estephe 6x75cl

NM93-95
“The 2023 Tronquoy-Lalande was picked September 6 to 26 and contains more Petit Verdot in the blend this year. It matured in one-third new oak plus some newly-introduced foudres and amphorae.... Blackberry and bilberry fruit surface the nose, plus a fresh punnet of strawberries. This is quite delightful and full of character. The palate is underpinned by fine acidity. Fresh and quite marine-influenced, this has a silky texture on the finish that lingers in the mouth, representing another superb Tronquoy from a rejuvenated estate.” 93-95 pts., Neal Martin, vinous.com

"Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Very densely woven nose with aroma reminiscent of blackcurrants, blackcurrant spurs, ripe blackberries and elderberries, fine toasting,... subtle oak. A wine with elegance, purity and great freshness, precision and purity. On the palate well balanced with ripe tannins, finely grained, complemented by juicy fruit quoting the nose, excellent structure and length. Another great Batailley." 96 pts., Markus del Monego MW, MS "Beautiful fruit with currants and blackberries, as well as notes of walnuts and chocolate. So much blackberry fruit here. Aromatic. Medium- to full-bodied with very fine tannins on the deep and structured palate. Racy and long finish. 79% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot and 2% petit verdot." 95-96 pts., James Suckling., www.jamessuckling.com

"The 2022 Sénéjac is one of the best wines that this northern Médoc cru Bourgeois has produced in the last decade or two. Offering up aromas of cherries, dark berries, peonies and pencil shavings,... it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent, with a rich core of fruit, supple tannins and a persistent finish." 90-92 pts., William Kelley, robertparker.com

"The 2024 Tour Saint Christophe is a very pretty, polished wine. Dark cherry, plum, new leather, mocha, incense and espresso build nicely, filling out the layers. Medium in body and pliant, with fine balance, Tour Saint Christophe is all charm. Attractive floral and spice notes brighten the finish." 90-92 pts., Antonio Galloni, vinous.com

2024 Chateau Palmer 3eme Cru Classe, Margaux 6x75cl

AG94-97
"The 2024 Palmer is wonderfully vivid and expressive. Strong Cabernet Sauvignon inflections make a strong first impression. Blue/purplish fruit, gravel, lavender, incense, licorice and dried herbs... all jump from the glass. I imagine the 2024 will drink well on release, which is uncharacteristic for young Palmer. Readers will find a gorgeous wine with tons of character and pedigree to burn. Palmer remains one of the most distinctive wines in all of Bordeaux." 94-97 pts., Antonio Galloni, vinous.com

"The 2024 Duhart-Milon opens with strong Cabernet Sauvignon inflections. Blue-toned fruit, lavender, spice and dried herbs open first, all framed by brisk acids and supporting tannins that lend shape. The 2024 includes 14% press wines, about the norm here. This is a very promising Duhart. " Antonio Galloni, vinous.com

2022 Chateau Ormes de Pez, Saint-Estephe 6x75cl

"The 2022 Ormes de Pez is matured in 45% new oak for a planned 16 months. It has a perfumed and floral bouquet, quite sensual for a Saint-Estèphe, developing blue fruit with time in the glass. The... oak is neatly enmeshed. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a high-toned and racy opening. Good acidity, the Merlot (51%) occupies the driving seat and ensures its silky-textured finish, a mote of chalk dust on the aftertaste. Just needs its élevage to knit it all together." 92-94, Neal Martin, www.vinous.com
