Delivery & Storage

Delivery

We generally use specialised fine wine delivery couriers rather than standard couriers, giving a much higher level of care and accuracy in delivering fine wines safely to you. Wines can be delivered duty-paid to UK addresses upon payment of the required duty, VAT, delivery and storage charges (if applicable). Duty and VAT are as set by HMRC at the time of delivery. Delivery charges are based on number of cases to be delivered and are standard for all UK addresses except highlands and islands. Please ask for a quotation for highlands and islands, transfers to another bonded warehouse and for international transfers.

Please read our Delivery page for more details.

Storage

Mr.Wheeler’s Private Reserves offer perfect storage conditions for your fine wine until you are ready to drink or sell it. Our in-bond facilities are temperature and moisture-controlled, fully insured at replacement value, and accessible whenever you want. At Mr.Wheeler’s specialist wine storage facility in Burton-Upon-Trent, all private client reserves are marked with a unique rotation number as required by HM Revenue & Customs for bonded goods. In addition, each case of wine is clearly identifiable, confirming your ownership.

Please read our Fine Wine Storage page for more details.

2020 Chateau Laroque Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

RP94-96
Since 2015, head winemaker David Suire (of Château Beauséjour-Duffau-Lagarosse fame) has been responsible for this surge in quality and value at Château Laroque, and with 2020, he and his team... done it again with a seriously classy offering. Parcel selection here is key: for the grand vin, only those vines classified as Grand Cru Classé are used, which in this case make up two thirds of their total vineyard area and of these, only a further 27 of specially selected hectares. As such, this special selection gives over a vintage that is lush, rich and concentrated, with layers of velvety red, black and blue fruits, and a great purity that shines through a terrific freshness and elegance. Qualities you would expect in much pricier clarets and ones that will ensure many years of heightened complexity and sublime drinking pleasure. The grand vin is a blend of 99% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc, aging between 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% new.

2021 Saintayme, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

DE92
"Ripe, perfumed nose. Bright, almost sour cherry and strawberry fruit on the palate, seriously searing, with such fresh acidities - a sharp direction upwards that quickly gets enveloped by slate... minerality and such exacting graphite touches on the palate that sweep the tongue, and leave a real iodine flavour on the finish. I love the nature of this, no frills, really showing the terroir in the glass and such clarity of the elements. Linear and focused. 60,000 bottle production. Ageing 30% in new oak." 92 pts., Georgina Hindle, decanter.com

2020 Chateau Yon-Figeac Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

DE92
A moreish, merlot-led blend from this delightful, 24-hectare estate in Saint-Emilion whose grand vin for us, at £200/case of 12 (en primeur), is an absolute steal on Right Bank class and value.... Château Yon Figeac will also give you the uncommon opportunity to savour petit verdot when grown on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, a varietal otherwise found more exclusively in the Médoc. In fact, with 6% of their overall hectarage, here is the largest coverage of the varietal in Saint-Emilion. The result? Freshness, spice, aromatic complexity and a superb compliment to the cuvée’s assemblage of merlot and cabernet franc that makes for an elegant, unique, everyday-drinking St-Emilion claret that is hugely gratifying.

2019 Chateau Moulin Saint-Georges, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

VM93
"The 2019 Moulin Saint-Georges is another wine in this range from the Vauthier family that shows decidedly mid-weight structure. Bright acids are especially present today. Moulin Saint-Georges is an... understated wine that isn't especially obvious today, but that appears to have quite a bit of potential once it fully comes together. I especially like the vibrancy here." 90 pts., Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com

2019 Carillon d’Angelus, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

VM92
"The 2019 Le Carillon d'Angélus, bottled in May 2021, has a delineated, poised bouquet of those same aromas that I observed from the barrel sample bottle – black cherries, raspberry and iris... petals– though with a very slight marine influence that becomes more accentuated with time. The fresh palate is medium-bodied with slightly grainier tannins compared to last year, fine grip and a touch of black pepper toward the finish. This is a very fine Deuxième Vin that should drink well after 3–4 years... " 92 pts. Neal Martin, www.vinous.com

2021 Chateau Canon Premier Grand Cru Classe B, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

DE94-96
"Dark chocolate, perfume, violets, wild flowers and bramble berries on the nose, so much going on aromatically. Lovely succulence straight away, the bright acidity giving a mouthwatering effect and... really delivering in terms of vibrant and lively fruit forwardness but with these lovely edges of graphite, slate, bitter chocolate, cream and salinity. So elegant and so refined as well as super stylish. I also love the cooling menthol Cabernet aspects you get all the way through and on the long finish. This has real class, but also an effortless quality to it that is so remarkable. One of the most memorable wines of the vintage! 3.37pH. Both Canon, Rauzan-Segla and Berliquet are excellent achievements this year." 96 pts., Georgina Hindle, decanter.com

2021 Chateau Tour Saint Christophe, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

"80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. 35 hl/ha. Cask sample. Lively and fresh with red-berry notes. Tension and length on the palate but sufficient fruit to add a bit of flesh. Chalky, terroir finish but nothing tough or exaggerated. Pleasing medium-term drinking." 16 pts., James Lawther MW, jancisrobinson.com

2018 Croix Canon, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

VM92
"The 2018 Croix Canon is a total pleasure to taste today. Sumptuous and inviting, with so much appeal, Croix Canon is a fabulous wine to drink now and over the next decade, maybe more. Soft curves,... silky tannins and pliant fruit give the 2018 so much charm. Dark plum, spice, new leather, rose petal and mint all wrap around the juicy finish. In a word: exquisite." 92 pts., Antonio Galloni, www.vinous.com

2021 Chateau La Gaffeliere Premier Grand Cru Classe B, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

VM94-96
"The 2021 La Gaffelière was picked September 22 to October 15, and matured in 60% French new oak. There is a healthy 42% Cabernet Franc here. The nose is quite open with black cherry, blueberry and... touches of violet and peony; the oak is nicely integrated. In the mouth, this is medium-bodied with fine delineation, good focus and real midpalate weight. Conveying good intensity and vibrancy, this continues a strong run for this Saint-Émilion estate." 2020 Chateau Tour Saint Christophe, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

VM93-95
Another top performance in the 2020 from this St-Emilion GC that can't help but get better with each vintage. Here is a merlot-led Right Bank claret of deep garnet-purple in color with powerful... scents of baked blackberries, stewed black plums and boysenberries bounding out of the glass, Then cedar, mocha, tar and lifted wafts of liquorice and cardamom. A rich, full-bodied palate densely packed with juicy black fruits, supported by velvety tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing long and luxuriously.

2020 Chateau Quintus, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 6x75cl

DE93
"Exuberant and confident, with powerful damson and black cherry fruit flavours on the nose. Chocolate and liquorice run through the palate from beginning to end, and this is full of signature... St-Emilion glamour. It has a round and supple texture through the mid palate, but the alcohol hides some of the limestone nuance at this point - it will no doubt emerge more clearly with 8 to 10 years in bottle." Drink 2029-2044. 93 pts., Jane Anson, decanter.com
