Delivery & Storage
Delivery
We generally use specialised fine wine delivery couriers rather than standard couriers, giving a much higher level of care and accuracy in delivering fine wines safely to you. Wines can be delivered duty-paid to UK addresses upon payment of the required duty, VAT, delivery and storage charges (if applicable). Duty and VAT are as set by HMRC at the time of delivery. Delivery charges are based on number of cases to be delivered and are standard for all UK addresses except highlands and islands. Please ask for a quotation for highlands and islands, transfers to another bonded warehouse and for international transfers.

Storage
Mr.Wheeler’s Private Reserves offer perfect storage conditions for your fine wine until you are ready to drink or sell it. Our in-bond facilities are temperature and moisture-controlled, fully insured at replacement value, and accessible whenever you want. At Mr.Wheeler’s specialist wine storage facility in Burton-Upon-Trent, all private client reserves are marked with a unique rotation number as required by HM Revenue & Customs for bonded goods. In addition, each case of wine is clearly identifiable, confirming your ownership.

Offered by Mr.Wheeler for only the third vintage and one of the most exciting recent additions to our portfolio, Philippe and Vincent Lécheneaut’s ten-hectare estate in Nuits-St-Georges was... created by their father, Fernand Lécheneaut in the 1980s. An extensive range of the finest villages of the Côte de Nuits is produced here; we have picked what we think are the best in 2020 - perfect expressions of pinot noir – rich, sumptuous and elegant, these are modern wines made with minimum intervention that combine purity of fruit with stunning terroir expression.
Les Damodes is undoubtedly among the best, most consistently performing premier crus in our portfolio. Here, the 2020 is a beautifully structured yet velvety red burgundy, with sublime, lifted aromatics, plenty of floral notes to accompany the ripe fruit, and a minerally finish. It's supreme value, too, offering an upper echelon of Burgundian class at a remarkably approachable price point.

2020 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Cote de Nuits-Villages 6x75cl
A new find for Mr.Wheeler in the 2019 vintage and one we are pleased to follow since then; Domaine Livera is widely considered the “next Burgundian star” tellingly both by consumers of their... exceptional wines together with their winemaking contemporaries. The Livera family have been settled on the Domaine for almost 100 years, but Damien, who has been in charge for 13 years now, has taken the wines to a different level altogether. His style is one of purity, precision of fruit and impressive depth, quite reminiscent of the wines produced by Arnaud Mortet (who is a close friend and advisor). This is an up-and-coming address and very much one to watch.
Crisp, savoury, fresh with a core of red fruit, a delightfully raspy tannic structure, this is so thirst-quenching and moreish, it will be hard not to follow the first glass with a second. Perfect lunchtime Burgundy.

2020 Philippe Livera (Tilleuls), Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Evocelles 6x75cl
Opened, approachable and again with a core of red fruit, suggesting a relatively early picking for preserving freshness and poise. Contiguous with the 1er Crus, it is widely thought that Evocelles... was not included in that classification only because most of the vineyard is in Brochon rather than Gevrey. Certainly the complexity and mineral finish point to a terroir of some class, and the relatively high altitude serves it well in this warm vintage. Well worth considering as a great-value option to the premiers crus. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

Hautes-Côtes de Nuits have been particularly delicious in the past few, warm, vintages. This example from Léchéneaut is gorgeously moreish and juicy, with excellent ripeness and that spine of acidity that can be expected from vineyards higher up in altitude. Dark cherry fruit and fine-grained tannins combine beautifully here.

A powerful yet delicate, beautifully balanced ripe cherry nose leads you to a perfectly crafted juicy and slightly spicy palate with gentle hints of a freshly lit “Romeo y Julieta” wafting through. This is a serious wine with great class and finesse. Be sure to let alone a while before drinking and reward your patience beyond all expection.
