Delivery
We generally use specialised fine wine delivery couriers rather than standard couriers, giving a much higher level of care and accuracy in delivering fine wines safely to you. Wines can be delivered duty-paid to UK addresses upon payment of the required duty, VAT, delivery and storage charges (if applicable). Duty and VAT are as set by HMRC at the time of delivery. Delivery charges are based on number of cases to be delivered and are standard for all UK addresses except highlands and islands. Please ask for a quotation for highlands and islands, transfers to another bonded warehouse and for international transfers.

Storage
Mr.Wheeler’s Private Reserves offer perfect storage conditions for your fine wine until you are ready to drink or sell it. Our in-bond facilities are temperature and moisture-controlled, fully insured at replacement value, and accessible whenever you want. At Mr.Wheeler’s specialist wine storage facility in Burton-Upon-Trent, all private client reserves are marked with a unique rotation number as required by HM Revenue & Customs for bonded goods. In addition, each case of wine is clearly identifiable, confirming your ownership.

The Livera family have been settled on the Domaine for almost 100 years, but Damien, who has been in charge for 13 years now, has taken the wines to a different level altogether. His style is one of purity, precision of fruit and impressive depth, quite reminiscent of the wines produced by Arnaud Mortet (who is a close friend and advisor). This is an up-and-coming address and very much one to watch.
Crisp, savoury, fresh with a core of red fruit, a delightfully raspy tannic structure, this is so thirst-quenching and moreish, it will be hard not to follow the first glass with a second. Perfect lunchtime Burgundy.

Really bright ruby in appearance and showing notes of cherries and violets. It is a lovely harmonious wine already and shows great ripeness and expression that punches well above the weight of its modest appellation. It will be spot on for drinking when it arrives, but enjoyable for a good few years after that.

"...a deep cherry colour with garnet highlights. It boasts a bouquet of small red and black fruits (blackcurrant, cherry, raspberry) and flowers (violet). The body is ample and discreetly tannic and... the fruit remains present. Frequently one will find an elegant hint of Morello cherry. The 2020 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Rouge has a light cranberry and wild strawberry scented bouquet, quite vivacious with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, quite tart with a light finish that just needs a little more grip.

Opened, approachable and again with a core of red fruit, suggesting a relatively early picking for preserving freshness and poise. Contiguous with the 1er Crus, it is widely thought that Evocelles was not included in that classification only because most of the vineyard is in Brochon rather than Gevrey. Certainly the complexity and mineral finish point to a terroir of some class, and the relatively high altitude serves it well in this warm vintage. Well worth considering as a great-value option to the premiers crus.

2020 Sylvie Esmonin, Volnay Premier Cru, Santenots 6x75cl
Although firmly based in Gevrey-Chambertin, Sylvie also does a mere 0.17 hectares of this Volnay Premier Cru. And making wines of such maturity and complexity as she does in the Cote d'Or, here her... rendering of pinot noir planted on Les Santenots' clay-rich terroir makes for a full-bodied wine, velvety in texture and cleanly defined. Fresh violets on the nose, lots of black cherry and mild spice with finely tuned tannins on the palate, it retains great freshness, depth and length finishing up.

Bordering Meursault, the cool and late-ripening " Les Lurets" vineyard provides the excellent, perfumed and delicately structured fruit for this cuvée. Elegant and perfect with 5 years' ageing.

The 2020 Fixin Village is complex on the nose considering this is a Village Cru: redcurrant, briary, sous-bois and light truffle scents. This is very fragrant. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with a dab of sour cherry on the finish. Delightful.

Located in the old part of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, at the foot of the legendary Clos Saint Jacques vineyard, since 1988 the scrupulous Sylvie cultivates 7 ha under her own name. Her deep... knowledge of the vines and meticulous vinification techniques result in wines of great maturity and intensity, capable of great ageing potential. As you'd expect, these wines are in very high demand and Mr.Wheeler are delighted to be offering a selection of Sylvie’s wines for the third vintage in a row. An altogether fuller-bodied, yet even more red fruit-dominated cuvée than the Bourgogne Rouge, Sylvie's Côte de Nuits villages is a poised, structured and balanced style of Burgundy that will age well - and indeed will require just a little patience, requiring a good 7 to 8 years to reach its drinking window where it should stay for another 7 years or so.
