Description

“Vivid dark ruby colour. The 2016 Tigli Neri opens with fragrant berries and dark fruit notes followed by nuances of aromatic herbs and flowers. The palate has pleasant fruit aromatics surrounded by grippy tannins. It shows a sturdy frame, it is tense and wild with a bright acidity and great length.
We recommend decanting.” Enzo Boglietti Tasting Notes

Delivery & Storage

Delivery

We generally use specialised fine wine delivery couriers rather than standard couriers, giving a much higher level of care and accuracy in delivering fine wines safely to you. Wines can be delivered duty-paid to UK addresses upon payment of the required duty, VAT, delivery and storage charges (if applicable). Duty and VAT are as set by HMRC at the time of delivery. Delivery charges are based on number of cases to be delivered and are standard for all UK addresses except highlands and islands. Please ask for a quotation for highlands and islands, transfers to another bonded warehouse and for international transfers.

Please read our Delivery page for more details.

Storage

Mr.Wheeler’s Private Reserves offer perfect storage conditions for your fine wine until you are ready to drink or sell it. Our in-bond facilities are temperature and moisture-controlled, fully insured at replacement value, and accessible whenever you want. At Mr.Wheeler’s specialist wine storage facility in Burton-Upon-Trent, all private client reserves are marked with a unique rotation number as required by HM Revenue & Customs for bonded goods. In addition, each case of wine is clearly identifiable, confirming your ownership.

Please read our Fine Wine Storage page for more details.

2016 Enzo Boglietti, Barolo, Brunate 6x75cl

JR17
"Light, bright ruby colour with an orange hue. Beautifully lifted bouquet of red and dark fruit, fresh rose and some spice. A classy version of Brunate that combines austerity, vibrant fruit... characters and fine tannins. Persistent, fulfilling and exquisitely varietal. The silty clay soil with little organic matter is responsible for the powerful yet austere structure, the large clay patches give the complexity of flavours and aromas." Enzo Boglietti Tasting Note

2009 Enzo Boglietti, Barolo, Case Nere 6x75cl

VM90
"Good deep red. Very ripe, high-toned aromas of mocha, coffee and cocoa powder; slightly porty. Then sweet, very ripe and rather easygoing in the mouth, with a wild musky quality enlivened by notes of herbs, clove and pine needles. Fairly oaky Barolo but sweet and pliant, even silky." 90 pts., Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com

"Sweet, deeply spiced but aromatic dark red fruit. Wonderfully ripe yet fresh sweet fruit. Great depth and yet still aromatic on the mid palate despite its length and power. A touch of oaky spice. Very, very long. Great stuff." 18 pts. Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com

2005 Enzo Boglietti, Barolo, Case Nere 6x75cl

"The 2005 Barolo Case Nere is a dark, brooding wine redolent of charred notes, tar, smoke, spices and dark fruit. This bruising, heavyweight Barolo offers tons of intensity and muscle, but the... brooding style could use a touch more elegance. Still, the wine possesses terrific harmony and plenty of personality. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025. Enzo Boglietti is a young producer on the rise. Work continues to move forward on the new cellar, and more importantly, the wines are better than ever as was evidenced by the 2006s and 2007s I tasted from barrel and this gorgeous set of 2005s. Boglietti gives his Barolos 12-18 months in French oak barrels then moves the wines into larger 15-20 hectoliter casks where they finish their aging. As new oak levels have come down the wines have gained notable expressiveness and depth that was sometimes missing in prior vintages. In 2005 Boglietti brought in part of the fruit before the rains, and part after. His 2005s are built on freshness rather than structure, and offer terrific balance. In 2005 there is no Barolo Brunate as the vineyards are undergoing replanting. Boglietti does have a Riserva in the cellar made from the best fruit in the Fossati and Case Nere vineyards. The first vintage, the 2004, will be released next year. Based on what I tasted from barrel, it is a promising wine." Antonio Galloni, www.robertparker.com

2019 Bruno Giacosa, Barbaresco, Asili 6x75cl

"Most approachable, even at this early stage. Yet the Asili Barbaresco shows mightily impressive depth of flavour for a cuvée that is all about delicacy and elegance. No doubt this is courtesy of... the naturally limited yields of the 2019 growing season, and the fleshy texture brings a level of opulence that befits this cuvée beautifully. Pretty gorgeous stuff… " Mr Wheeler Wine Tasting Note
