“Brilliant ruby. Spice-tinged red/blue fruits, succulent flowers and smoky minerals on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy and seamless on the palate, offering concentrated boysenberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter on the bock half. The dark berry note lingers strongly on the spicy, sharply focused finish, which is shaped by smooth, even tannins. ” 92 pts., Josh Raynolds, vinous.com

Delivery & Storage

Delivery

We generally use specialised fine wine delivery couriers rather than standard couriers, giving a much higher level of care and accuracy in delivering fine wines safely to you. Wines can be delivered duty-paid to UK addresses upon payment of the required duty, VAT, delivery and storage charges (if applicable). Duty and VAT are as set by HMRC at the time of delivery. Delivery charges are based on number of cases to be delivered and are standard for all UK addresses except highlands and islands. Please ask for a quotation for highlands and islands, transfers to another bonded warehouse and for international transfers.

Please read our Delivery page for more details.

Storage

Mr.Wheeler’s Private Reserves offer perfect storage conditions for your fine wine until you are ready to drink or sell it. Our in-bond facilities are temperature and moisture-controlled, fully insured at replacement value, and accessible whenever you want. At Mr.Wheeler’s specialist wine storage facility in Burton-Upon-Trent, all private client reserves are marked with a unique rotation number as required by HM Revenue & Customs for bonded goods. In addition, each case of wine is clearly identifiable, confirming your ownership.

Please read our Fine Wine Storage page for more details.

2020 Montirius, Gigondas La Tour 6x75cl

This vineyard covers an area of 16 hectares, out of which 8 are planted with very old vines. Here, the first vines were planted as early as 1925. This 16-hectare vineyard is neatly segregated into 3... slots – 10, 3 and 3. The first 10-hectare parcel has a blend of alluvium, Helvetian sand and sandstone soils. The second 3-hectare parcel has limestone-rich soil. The third 3-hectare parcel contains red clayey soils. Grenache is grown on 80% of the vineyards here, while Mourvedre vines cover the remaining 20% of the vineyards.

2020 Yann Chave, Crozes-Hermitage, Rouvre 12x75cl

DE93
Yann’s ‘le Rouvre’ cuvée steps things up a gear, with an extra level of depth and intensity. A selection of the oldest parcels of syrah in the south of Crozes, and aged for 12 months in one... and two year-old barrels. Violet florals, blood citrus and white pepper on the nose; rich and powerful on the palate with intense, black cherry and an intriguing interplay of sweet and bitter black olive fruit. Ultra precision and polish on a long, expansive finish.

2020 Yann Chave, Crozes-Hermitage 12x75cl

DE92
A very fine and pure expression of syrah here from Yann Chave. Made from 25-year old vines, and without oak. Generous violet floral and white pepper nose; very juicy, sweet/bitter black fruit and savoury liquorice palate; polished, elegant, precisely structured, impeccable finish with lingering pepper spice.

2015 E. Guigal, Cote Rotie, Brune Et Blonde 12x75cl

RP93
"96% Syrah, 4% Viognier. Aged for 36 months in oak barrels, of which 50% are new. Velvety tannins, excellent black-fruit clarity, well-integrated oak and a touch of floral lift to finish. Modern, perfumed, precise and lengthy. Very satisfying and typical." 17 pts., Richard Hemming MW, jancisrobinson.com

2020 Melody, Crozes-Hermitage, Premier Regard 12x75cl

Hints of white pepper and spice on the nose lead you to a delightful warm and forward mouthful of berry fruit compote, vanilla and liquorice. Excellent weight and texture with malleable tannins that make it very accessible in its youth, yet built for medium term enjoyment as well.

2020 Jasmin, Cote Rotie, Giroflarie 12x75cl

Ampuis-based Jasmin has the advantage of choosing from 12 different plots for blending this exceptional Cote-Rotie (95% syrah, 5% viognier) which he ages for 18 months. His 'Giroflarie' is... considered by many to be the most 'Burgundian' of cuvées in the appellation, drinking quite deliciously in its youth yet also packing the stuff for a good 20 years of graceful ageing.

2020 Domaine de la Bouissiere, Gigondas 12x75cl

Old vines and elevation provide an invigorating elegance and freshness on a nose of juicy, red fruit grenache, leading to equally juicy, bitter, black syrah fruit on a palate that shows at once raciness, great power and depth. Wonderfully interwoven tannis, ong, peppery, juicy finish. An exceptionally unique Gigondas.

2020 Paul Jaboulet Aine, Hermitage, La Maison Bleue 3x150cl

DE92
“Mostly sourced from les Murets, the 2020 Hermitage La Maison Bleue is a solid effort, with appealing notes of blackberries, raspberries and espresso on the nose. It's full-bodied and rich, yet... streamlined and focused, with savory tones of black olives appearing on the softly dusty finish. It should drink well young, yet age well for more than a decade.” 92-94 pts, Joe Czerwinski, www.robertparker.com Drink 2026-2045

2020 Paul Jaboulet Aine, Crozes-Hermitage, Domaine de Thalabert 6x75cl

JR16.5
Beautifully expressive, floral with a gorgeous core of violets, followed on the palate by a richly-fruited core complemented by savoury, meaty, umami notes on the finish. Gently grippy with ripe and impressively fine-grained tannins, the structure is perfect for this to peak between 2027 and 2030. (Mr Wheeler Tasting note)

2013 Christophe Pichon, Cote Rotie, Promesse 12x75cl

RP90
"A classic Côte Rôtie, the 2013 Côte Rôtie Promesse checks in as a blend of 90% Syrah and 10% Viognier, completely destemmed, and spent 14 months in one-year-old barrels before bottling. While... there’s only 200 cases or so of the top La Comtesse en Côte Blonde, there’s over a thousand cases of this beauty, so it should be easier to find. Offering textbook black raspberry, violets, bay leaf and raspberry notes, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, fine tannin and a sexy, forward, elegant and already hard to resist profile. I’d happily drink it anytime over the coming decade." 90 points, The Wine Advocate
