2020 Boyer Martenot, Meursault, Les Narvaux Blanc 12x75cl
The lieu-dit “Narvaux” sits just above the rump of Meursault’s Premier Cru vineyards and abuts the village border with Puligny. Vincent’s Narvaux expresses this location beautifully by... combining the power of Meursault with the silky elegance more commonly associated with wines from across the village track. It is rich and buttery with gentle hints of oak, but its precision and steeliness combine to give a wine of great class and fitness.

From vines at the western edge of Meursault’s Premier cru vineyards, Vincent’s Charmes is aptly named. This pretty wine is already open and expressive with an enticing richness that complements its refined citrus and mineral backbone. A superb example of Chardonnay at its crafted best.

GS97TA97VM93
"The 2017 Lady May has more presence on the nose than the preceding vintage, and more complexity and delineation. The floral element is toned down compared to the 2016. The palate is medium-bodied... with fine tannins, tarry black fruit laced with truffle and a pinch of white pepper, leading to a harmonious and quite persistent finish. This is an excellent Lady May that should drink well for up to 15 years.” 93 pts., Neal Martin, vinous.com
£174 / Case£29 / BottleDuty Status: In BondAvailability: En Primeur2022 Chateau Ormes de Pez, Saint-Estephe 6x75cl
"The 2022 Ormes de Pez is matured in 45% new oak for a planned 16 months. It has a perfumed and floral bouquet, quite sensual for a Saint-Estèphe, developing blue fruit with time in the glass. The... oak is neatly enmeshed. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a high-toned and racy opening. Good acidity, the Merlot (51%) occupies the driving seat and ensures its silky-textured finish, a mote of chalk dust on the aftertaste. Just needs its élevage to knit it all together."

"The 2022 Sénéjac is one of the best wines that this northern Médoc cru Bourgeois has produced in the last decade or two. Offering up aromas of cherries, dark berries, peonies and pencil shavings,... it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent, with a rich core of fruit, supple tannins and a persistent finish." 90-92 pts., William Kelley, robertparker.com

"Impressive from the first tilt of the glass, the 2018 Brunello makes it a heady burst of exotic spice and crushed ashen stone giving way to black dried cherries and grilled herbs. This combines the... energy of the vintage with the dark balsamic tinged fruits from Montalcino’s southern reaches as zesty acidity maintains balance throughout, and flinty minerals saturated towards the close. It finishes long, long and structured, yet its tannins are more rounded than anticipated, creating a classic feel, but also a mouth watering sensation that tricks the taster back for more. Easily one of the top wines of the vintage, the 2018 is not to be missed."

"65/23/9/3% shiraz/cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc/merlot grown in the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Matured in 71/29% French (20% new) and American oak hogsheads for 18 months. Detail is a wonderful... thing. If you stick your nose in the glass and close your eyes, perhaps tilt your head just so, you can pick out the individual components of this wine, yet they mesh together perfectly. Juicy berry and plum fruits, abundant spice, fine-grind tannin grip, a fine lacy acid line and an elegant, perfectly poised, slow fade out of pure fruit."

DE99
"The 60th anniversary of Australia's most famous single-vineyard wine, whose oldest contributing patch – the 0.56ha Grandfathers – was planted an incredible 160 years ago. There can't be many... wines whose inaugural vintage came from 100-year-old vines! As always, it's a powerful, muscular wine built for the long haul, showcasing silky but structured tannins, fresh acidity, and concentrated, complex yet graceful flavours of ripe blackberry and boysenberry, lighter red and blue fruits, earthy beetroot, peppery cured meat and an exotic, herbal incense note. Named for the Gnadenberg Lutheran church which stands opposite the vineyard, itself named for the region in Silesia from which Johann Christian Henschke emigrated in 1841."

"The 2016 Viña Ardanza Reserva was produced with 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha that matured in used American oak barrels for three years, where it was hand-racked from barrel to barrel six times... in the case of Tempranillo and five times for the Garnacha, as it had a slightly shorter élevage of 30 months. Against all odds, I found the 2016 to be fresher than the 2015 and less developed, despite the fact that winemaker Julio Sáenz told me he considers it a warmer year. But I have found many wines I like in 2016, and the wine feels very clean and quite harmonious, younger and less developed, with more primary notes and a velvety mouthfeel. 600,000 bottles produced. The wine was bottled in June 2020." 94 pts., Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

RP95
"It has a lively and young color and a very expressive nose (the cold soak and the semi-carbonic maceration), and there is a strong spiciness despite the fact they never use any new oak. It's mellow... and round, with glossy tannins and a very gentle mouthfeel, with good complexity and those chalky tannins. This is a young and more modern wine than the range from la Rioja Alta. This is a wine that was developed between 2005 and 2012, and they saw the mix of barrels worked better than a single origin." 95 pts., Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

"Harvested at ripe 15% potential alcohol, the golden-yellow 2015 Pinot Gris Rangen de Thann Clos Saint Urbain shows the purity and flintiness of its terroir combined with an unreal freshness for the... 2015 vintage. On the palate this wine is exploding with tension. It is lush and vibrant, round and structure." 94-95 pts., Stephan Reinhardt, robertparker.com

RP92-94
"The luxury cuvee, the 2013 Le Plus de la Fleur de Bouard, is a limited production from what is considered to be the best parcel in the vineyard. This 100% Merlot reveals unreal concentration as well... as an opaque blue/purple color, and abundant notes of blueberry liqueur, lead pencil shavings, violets, black currants and black cherries. Deep, opulent and voluptuously textured, this is a candidate for the wine of the vintage. It should drink well for 10-15 years, perhaps longer. It may be hard for readers to believe these two Lalande de Pomerols are better than many first-growths, but they are." 92-94 pts., Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com

"The 2012 Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Colonnello is an intriguing wine. Whole clusters add an exotic element of perfume to the Nebbiolo fruit in this expressive, highly nuanced Barolo. Orange peel,... mint, sage and pine overtones all emerge with time in the glass. Understated and also persistent, the 2012 has quite a bit of personality." Antonio Galloni, vinous.com

"The 2005 Cos d'Estournel is blended of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet colored, it is still a little closed and youthfully shy. With coaxing, the nose is just... beginning to offer glimpses at vivacious kirsch, red roses, violets, licorice and mocha scents over a crème de cassis, blackberry pie and chocolate-covered cherry core with wafts of chargrill, mossy bark and truffles. Full-bodied, concentrated and wonderfully complex in the mouth, the palate is just beginning to reveal the true potential of this wine, with tightly wound layers of perfumed black fruits and earthy notions bound by a rock-solid frame of firm, grainy tannins and finishing with epic persistence. This still needs 5-6 years, but I love how this beauty is shaping up!!" 98 pts., Lisa Perrotti -Brown, robertparker.com

"This Brunate is very complex, with smoky woodland notes, red cherry, pomegranate and liquorice aromas – a very classic signature. It displays brillant acidity considering the warmth of Brunate." 95 pts., Aldo Fiordelli, decanter.com

"Made with 83% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo and 2% Syrah, this lovely, delicious red races out of the gate with enticing scents of perfumed berries, blue flowers, forest floor and baking spice. Smooth... and savory, the juicy palate features ripe Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, white pepper and star anise alongside polished tannins. "The 2017 Keyneton Euphonium is 62% Shiraz, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot, aged in 19% new oak hogsheads (85% French, 15% American). The oak imparts a bit of smokiness and... mocha overtones to the nose, but this is a largely fruit-driven effort, with ripe cherries, boysenberries and blackberries touched with hints of eucalyptus and sage. It's medium to full-bodied, smooth and streamlined on the palate, with a soft dusting of tannins and lingering berry and herb flavors on the finish." 91 pts., Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

"A strong effort in a less-acclaimed vintage, Pol Roger's newly released 2015 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill opens in the glass with aromas of confit citrus, ripe orchard fruits and dried white flowers... mingled with hints of honeycomb, freshly baked bread and anise. Medium to full-bodied, vinous and concentrated, with bright acids, chalky structuring extract and a pinpoint mousse, this inherently rather rich, gastronomic Champagne is quite tightly wound out of the gates and will reward a bit of bottle age. Stylistically, it is somewhat reminiscent of a modern-day version of the 1985." 94+ pts., William Kelley, robertparker.com

It has notes of ripe black fruit, licorice and a... touch of earth, leather and graphite. The palate reveals some astringency and a dry finish with some bitterness from the oak. 56,000 bottles and 1,520 magnums produced. Best of all, the 2021 will drink well right out of the gate.”
