2020 Chateau Pichon Baron 2eme Cru Classe, Pauillac 6x75cl

RP95-97
"The 2020 Pichon-Longueville Baron is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot aging for an estimated 18 months in French oak barrels, 70% new. The production of the grand vin represents 48%... of the harvest this year. Opaque purple-black in color, it comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant notions of blackberry pie, preserved plums and crème de cassis, plus suggestions of Chinese five spice, chocolate mint, graphite and cedar chest with a touch of violets. The medium-bodied palate is built like a brick house, featuring firm, ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness to support the taut, muscular black fruits, finishing long and spicy." 95-97 pts., Lisa Perrotti-Brown, robertparker.com

2020 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron, Pauillac 6x75cl

VM92-94
This second wine of Pauillac's Pichon Baron de Longeville is an elegant and easy drinking cuvée blended with 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot with delightful black fruit flavours on the palate... and ripe, unobtrusive tannins to balance. Though produced primarily for early drinking, it retains all the substance and structure to see it through a good twenty more years of graceful ageing.

2016 Les Tourelles de Longueville, Pauillac 6x75cl

The 2016 Les Tourelles de Longueville is a blend of 58% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot (from young vines that are destined to go into the Grand Vin one day,... according to Christian Seely), matured in 30% new oak for 12 months. It offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, just a touch of melted tar with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a powerful opening, dense black fruit tinged with graphite, a solid Deuxième Vin with a slightly aloof finish (at least at the moment). There is a pleasant graphite note lingering long on the aftertaste that completes a fine Pauillac to enjoy over the next 12-15 years. Drink 2021 – 2040. 90-92 pts., Neal Martin, Vinous
