2021 Domaine Lecheneaut, Morey-Saint-Denis 6x75cl

JR16
"Once again Philip and Vincent have excelled themselves with their village Morey-St Denis. The grapes are gathered from a number of plots looking down on the village, and they have been built into a... really impressive wine. The nose is very ripe with intense concentrated cherry fruit, leading to a heady combination of assertive Morello fruit and bold ripe tannins. This was really lovely even at this stage and will undoubtedly shine brighter on its arrival. A real star from the Domaine this year." (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Domaine Lecheneaut, Marsannay, En Sampagny 6x75cl

Situated at the southern end of the Marsannay commune, adjacent to its arguably better-know next door neighbour Fixin, this is a classic example of how the appellation can excel. A restrained and... delicate nose of ripe hedgerow fruits leads into a delightfully powerful central core of blueberry and a touch of cherry on the palate. The balance of great juicy acidity (so typical in this vintage) and robust fruit-coated tannins suggests a wine for the medium to longer haul, but one that is unquestionably worth the wait. 2021 Domaine Lecheneaut, Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 6x75cl

The wines of the Hautes Côtes de Nuits have been particularly delightful in the past few vintages, and this example from Léchéneaut in 2021 is no exception. Deep and complex on the nose with... whiffs of dark cherry and a hint of anise leads to a palate packed with expressive berry fruit. There is, however, an underlying delicacy and zing of acidity that completes this truly lovely wine. Go search out some confit de canard and settle in for something quite delicious. Chapeau Vincent! 2020 Domaine Lecheneaut, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru, Les Damodes 12x75cl

JM91-94JR16.5
Offered by Mr.Wheeler for only the third vintage and one of the most exciting recent additions to our portfolio, Philippe and Vincent Lécheneaut’s ten-hectare estate in Nuits-St-Georges was... created by their father, Fernand Lécheneaut in the 1980s. An extensive range of the finest villages of the Côte de Nuits is produced here; we have picked what we think are the best in 2020 - perfect expressions of pinot noir – rich, sumptuous and elegant, these are modern wines made with minimum intervention that combine purity of fruit with stunning terroir expression. Les Damodes is undoubtedly among the best, most consistently performing premier crus in our portfolio. Here, the 2020 is a beautifully structured yet velvety red burgundy, with sublime, lifted aromatics, plenty of floral notes to accompany the ripe fruit, and a minerally finish. It's supreme value, too, offering an upper echelon of Burgundian class at a remarkably approachable price point.

2020 Domaine Lecheneaut, Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 12x75cl

JM87-90
"From below Nuits, aged in older barrels. Incredibly concentrated purple despite 30% whole bunch. This Bourgogne has a powerful bouquet of dark raspberry fruit, but not heavy and not over ripe. A... gorgeous succulence of fruit with fine acidity. This has concentration at the back, a sturdy and serious Bourgogne.” Jasper Morris MW, insideburgundy.com
