"The 2024 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet. I find more tension and precision on the Les Champans at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, the fruit... equidistant between red and black, with touches of dark chocolate and espresso in the background towards the finish. Red plum, cranberry and light floral scents manifest, nicely controlled and the oak here is nicely integrated.... The palate is svelte and harmonious with well-judged acidity, just a background simmer of spices that lead to a refined and quite persistent finish.
