2019 Domaine de la Bouissiere, Gigondas, Font De Tonin 12x75cl
"This great wine is the worthy representative of the “mountain” of Gigondas. Composed of 80 percent Grenache and the rest Mourvèdre, this dense, structured, textured yet fresh wine captures... fully the character of grapes produced by our oldest vines, growing on the limestone scree at the base of the Dentelles de Montmiral, between 300 and 500 meters in altitude. It too is vinified on whole clusters. ‘Le Font de Tonin,’ completely aged in barrel (a small part of which is new oak), shortly after bottling shows no marked presence of wood at all, revealing a wine that is powerful and rich yet pure and fresh, wrapped in smooth tannins. Compact nose of sweet, spicy... black fruit, bay leaf and olive; on the palate liquorice, juicy black and red fruit; power, rich, pure and deeply expressive, refined tannins finishing long with great precision and freshness.
