2020 Kumeu River, Hunting Hill Chardonnay, Kumeu 3x150cl

JR17+VM95WE96
"Possibly the most complete Hunting Hill Chardonnay I've tasted in youth, the 2020 provides harmonious, melt-in-your-mouth impression. It has breadth and concentration but retains a sense of... elegance on the midpalate before finishing with precision and length. Yes, there's a little bit of flint character too, but then Hunting Hill is known to be reductive; give it time. Like Forrest Gump, it runs through a finish line and keeps on going effortlessly. There's no box of chocolates here, though; it's all white nectarine, citrus, white flowers and o touch of smoked nuts." 95 pts., Rebecca Gibb MW, vinous.com

2020 Domaine du Tunnel, Saint-Peray, Roussanne 3x150cl

This has always been one of our favourite wines from the Tunnel range – a real tour de force, and a great expression of the Roussanne grape. Perfumed and aromatic, with a little barrel-ageing... adding some toast and exotic spice. Rich and luscious, with rounded peach and pear fruit, but finishing with a mouth-watering citrus freshness. A delicious, characterful white Rhone.

2020 Kumeu River, Estate Chardonnay, Kumeu 3x150cl

VM91
"There's a sense of calm to the 2020 Chardonnay Estate, a blend of six different sites. It is mellow, offering a plump cushion of Chardonnay goodness on the midpalate but not becoming heavy nor... opulent, its youthful edge and fresh acidity tying it together into a precise finish. It offers classic subtle Chardonnay characters of Golden Delicious apple, white nectarine and a mere whiff of oak-derived smokiness. Well constructed, satisfying and elegant. 2017 Penfolds, Bin 798 RWT Shiraz, Barossa Valley 3x150cl

RP98
"Sourced only from the Barossa Valley, RWT is aged exclusively in French oak, giving it two major points of difference from the rest of the Penfolds range. Always a sexy, voluptuous wine (and... admittedly a personal favorite), the 2018 RWT Shiraz ratchets that up to new heights in a great Barossa vintage, boasting layers of berry-like fruit, refined vanilla shadings and baking-spice notes, plus more exotic elements like star anise and cocoa powder. It's full-bodied and plush without being unstructured in any way, with a lingering, complex finish and the concentration to age two decades or more." 98 pts., Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

2017 Domaine de Chevalier Cru Classe, Pessac-Leognan 3x150cl

JR17
"Tasted blind. Deep ruby colour. Bursting with red cherry and hints of violet on the nose, there is intrigue and joy here. The palate shows much flesh and vibrancy, with plump red berries at the... core. The acid is positively zesty yet lifts the fruit into floral tones rather than washing away the flavour. Fleet-footed and long on the finish. A wine that transparently exhibits the better elements of this vintage." 17 pts., Tom Parker MW, jancisrobinson.com

2017 Klein Constantia, Vin De Constance, Constantia 3x150cl

JR18
"Lustrous mid gold. Dried apricot, orange blossom and citrus peels on the nose, suffused with nutmeg, clove and coffee cream, and an earthy, spicy, saffron-like note. Richly sweet and unctuously... textured, but with a streak of acidity that balances beautifully, and gives a preserved grapefruit and lemon flavour. Fantastic length." 18 pts., Tim Jackson MW, jancisrobinson.com

2019 Yann Chave, Crozes-Hermitage, Rouvre 3x150cl

RP93
"Blackberries, plums and a touch of oak appear on the nose of the 2019 Crozes Hermitage le Rouvre. Full-bodied and concentrated, it's richly tannic yet fully ripe, with layers of rich, velvety tannins unfolding through the long, licorice-tinged finish." 93 pts., Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

2020 Paul Jaboulet Aine, Hermitage, La Maison Bleue 3x150cl

DE92
“Mostly sourced from les Murets, the 2020 Hermitage La Maison Bleue is a solid effort, with appealing notes of blackberries, raspberries and espresso on the nose. It's full-bodied and rich, yet... streamlined and focused, with savory tones of black olives appearing on the softly dusty finish. It should drink well young, yet age well for more than a decade.” 92-94 pts, Joe Czerwinski, www.robertparker.com Drink 2026-2045

2020 Paul Jaboulet Aine, Hermitage, La Chapelle Rouge 3x150cl

DE93
Blood-orange/grapefruit zest on a tight, polished nose; great minerality with deeper, plummier notes. A creamy, bitter black fruit palate; beautifully textured with an authentic, savoury, olive... tapenade core freshened further by a persistent streak of granite minerality and more juicy, deep citrus fruit. Proper grip and structure; very clean, long, peppery finish. Sheer elegance; utterly delicious.

2020 Kumeu River, Coddington Chardonnay, Kumeu 3x150cl

"Power and elegance, speaks of site. Fresh peach and quince with a nutty, salty, dairy fragrance adding breadth. Texture and mouthfeel, contrasting acid-line, peach and white stone soil complexity, long on the finish." 97 pts., Cameron Douglas MS, decanter.com

2019 Yann Chave, Hermitage 3x150cl

VM94-96
"A complex bouquet evokes ripe blackberry, cherry compote, licorice and violet, energized by a spicy cracked pepper nuance. Broad and fleshy in the mouth, offering densely packed, smoke-tinged... black/blue fruit, exotic spice and floral pastille flavors that pick up a minerally nuance as the wine opens up. Shows superb delineation and spicy lift on a long, silky finish framed by steadily building tannins. There were five demi-rnuids of this wine in 2019, all of them new." 94-96, Josh Raynolds, www.vinous.com
