2020 Domaine Lecheneaut, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru, Les Damodes 12x75cl

Offered by Mr.Wheeler for only the third vintage and one of the most exciting recent additions to our portfolio, Philippe and Vincent Lécheneaut’s ten-hectare estate in Nuits-St-Georges was... created by their father, Fernand Lécheneaut in the 1980s. An extensive range of the finest villages of the Côte de Nuits is produced here; we have picked what we think are the best in 2020 - perfect expressions of pinot noir – rich, sumptuous and elegant, these are modern wines made with minimum intervention that combine purity of fruit with stunning terroir expression. Les Damodes is undoubtedly among the best, most consistently performing premier crus in our portfolio. Here, the 2020 is a beautifully structured yet velvety red burgundy, with sublime, lifted aromatics, plenty of floral notes to accompany the ripe fruit, and a minerally finish. It's supreme value, too, offering an upper echelon of Burgundian class at a remarkably approachable price point.

2020 Domaine Fernand Lecheneaut, Bourgogne, Hautes Cotes de Nuits Rouge 12x75cl

Hautes-Côtes de Nuits have been particularly delicious in the past few, warm, vintages. This example from Léchéneaut is gorgeously moreish and juicy, with excellent ripeness and that spine of acidity that can be expected from vineyards higher up in altitude. Dark cherry fruit and fine-grained tannins combine beautifully here.

2020 Claudie Jobard, Pommard Premier Cru, Les Charmots 12x75cl

The wines of Pommard are renowned for their structured and powerful cuvées and this example is no disappointment. A nose of fragrant cherry precedes an intense framed mouthful of deep berry fruit... and blackcurrants, with great balancing acidity and length. It is of course very young, yet is already showing signs that with time this will be absolutely delicious.

2020 Rully Montagne La Folie, Jobard 12x75cl

This is a really impressive wine. Lovely forward citrus fruits with an underlying richness of buttered toast and just a hint of honey. Superbly fresh once again, its fine mineral spine frames this outstanding value white Chalonnaise from a brilliant vintage.

2020 Claudie Jobard, Bourgogne Côte d’Or Milliane 12x75cl

Sourced from 70-to 80-year-old vines from around the Pommard area, this is an outstanding example of the relatively new “superior” Bourgogne rouge appellation of Côte d’Or. It is big and... forward with powerful toasted cherry fruit, yet with an underlying delicate structure of real class. Undoubtedly a heavyweight in lightweight territory. Not to be missed.

2020 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini, Bourgogne, Pinot Noir 12x75cl

Produced from a single parcel of vines in Gevrey-Chambertin, this lovely, uncomplicated pinot fully expresses the warmth of the 2020 vintage. Delightfully forward cherry and damson fruit combine to... give a rich and ripe mouthfeel with soft yet ever-present tannins. 2020 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vieilles Vignes 12x75cl

A blend of grapes from four vineyards in the appellation where the vines are between 60 and 90 years old. This is wonderfully aromatic with whiffs of strawberry and brambles but also having a distinct discretion and subtlety that begs further ageing. Gentle hints of 30% new oak and a lovely tannic structure frames a truly excellent wine.

2020 Sylvain Bzikot, Meursault 12x75cl

A new addition to our portfolio last year, Sylvain Bzikot is at the head of the estate painstakingly assembled one parcel at a time by his grandparents in the 1940s, after a few years spent working... in the fields upon their arrival from Poland. Now consisting of an impressive 15 hectares, this Domaine is an excellent source of barrel-fermented Puligny-Montrachet with great typicity, at a very competitive price. Ignore at your peril! Here is a 2020 Meursault that is broad, full-bodied, with impressively ample mouthfill, and one Sylvain produced as unapologetically powerful. A traditional Meursault that will particularly please fans of fully-sized Côte d'Or whites.

2017 Chateau Cissac, Haut-Medoc 12x75cl

JR16
"66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot on gravel. A cru bourgeois. Unnecessarily heavy bottle. Colour of black cherries with purple rim. Rich black fruit on the nose, a touch of cassis... leaf adding lift, surprisingly open. Sweet-fruited and with some oak sweetness on the palate too but with the savoury quality of the Médoc to balance the fruit. Finely textured and supple tannins and a lovely freshness from start to finish." 16 pts., Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com

2020 Chateau Meaume, Bordeaux Superieur 12x75cl

RP87-89
"The 2020 Méaume has a deep purple-black color, offering up scents of baked blackberries, stewed plums and underbrush, with hints of cracked black pepper and dried Provence herbs. The medium to... full-bodied palate delivers plenty of black fruit preserves with lively herbal sparks and a soft texture, finishing with a peppery kick." 87-89 pts., Lisa Perrotti-Brown, robertparker.com

2019 Roc de Cambes, Cotes de Bourg 12x75cl

RP92
"The 2019 Roc de Cambes has turned out brilliantly, offering up aromas of cassis, sweet berry fruit, cigar wrapper, first floor and rich spices, followed by a full-bodied, layered, elegantly muscular... palate that's deep and concentrated, its fleshy core of fruit framed by ripe acids and ripe, powdery tannins. This is a terrific effort that may nip at the heels of the 2016. Despite its modest appellation, don't hesitate to cellar this, as Roc de Cambes is invariably better integrated and more interesting with a decade on the clock than on release." 92 pts., William Kelley, robertparker.com

"The 2017 Geyserville is a blend of 68% Zinfandel, 18% Carignane, 12% Petite Sirah and 2% Alicante Bouschet, aged 14 months in American oak, 16% new. Medium ruby, it opens with lilac, chocolate box... and stone fruit hints with warm blackcurrants, red and black cherries, cranberries, cedar, tobacco leaf and dusty earth. Medium to full-bodied, it opens slowly in the mouth to pure fruits supported by fine, chalky tannins and integrated freshness on the very long finish.
