2020 Kumeu River, Hunting Hill Chardonnay, Kumeu 3x150cl

JR17+VM95WE96
"Possibly the most complete Hunting Hill Chardonnay I've tasted in youth, the 2020 provides harmonious, melt-in-your-mouth impression. It has breadth and concentration but retains a sense of... elegance on the midpalate before finishing with precision and length. Yes, there's a little bit of flint character too, but then Hunting Hill is known to be reductive; give it time. Like Forrest Gump, it runs through a finish line and keeps on going effortlessly. There's no box of chocolates here, though; it's all white nectarine, citrus, white flowers and o touch of smoked nuts." 95 pts., Rebecca Gibb MW, vinous.com

"There's a sense of calm to the 2020 Chardonnay Estate, a blend of six different sites. It is mellow, offering a plump cushion of Chardonnay goodness on the midpalate but not becoming heavy nor... opulent, its youthful edge and fresh acidity tying it together into a precise finish. It offers classic subtle Chardonnay characters of Golden Delicious apple, white nectarine and a mere whiff of oak-derived smokiness. Well constructed, satisfying and elegant. 2019 Kumeu River, Mates Vineyard Chardonnay, Kumeu 6x75cl

"Scents of hazelnut, mocha and lime-custard crème brûlée appear on the nose of the 2019 Mate's Vineyard Chardonnay. Complex and compelling, it's undoubtedly one of Kumeu River's top recent... efforts. Medium to full-bodied, plump and generous on the palate, yet marked by zesty acids and a bright, citrusy finish, it's wonderfully balanced and drinkable now, yet it should age effortlessly for at least a decade." 96 pts., Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

2018 Kumeu River, Mates Vineyard Chardonnay, Kumeu 6x75cl

"Gentle notes of toasted grain mark the nose of the 2018 Mate's Vineyard Chardonnay, framing ripe pineapple and white peach aromas. There's a hint of bacon fat too. On the medium-bodied palate, the... wine is slightly custardy and silky, while at the same time, it's crisp and focused, tightening on the finish into a coiled spring of citrus zest. Like most vintages of Mate's, this ideally needs a couple of years in the cellar to fully express itself." 93 pts., Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

2020 Kumeu River, Rays Road Chardonnay, Kumeu 12x75cl

VM17
Kumeu River’s newest site in Hawkes Bay is a north-facing, limestone hillside at 180 metres. Dry-farmed, its fruit is also hand-harvested, pressed and fermented whole bunch in used French oak.... Zesty, fragrant and full of mineral complexity. “Neat and well-integrated, quite restrained. And already very accessible though with light, fine tannins and quite opulent fruit on the front palate. Sprightly. Lemon-pastille flavour. Very long. Beautifully made.” 17 pts. Jancis Robinson 2021-2027

2019 Cloudy Bay, Pinot Noir, Marlborough 6x75cl

"A ripe, aromatic and satisfying style. Full and mouth-filling, it glides along the palate and slips down easier than a cartoon character on a banana skin. There are no edges to this wine - it's all... roundness and perfect for guzzling now. Flavor-wise, cherry fruit and damson skin meet vanilla pod. Is it a challenging, academic style that will titillate wine snobs? No. Can you drink a shed-load of it and feel content? Yes. " Rebecca Gibb, vinous.com

2021 Kumeu River, Rays Road Chardonnay, Kumeu 6x75cl

Rays Road is Kumeu River’s new vineyard site in Hawkes Bay. This limestone hillside is at 180 m altitude, with a northerly aspect. It is dry-farmed to yield high quality grapes for wine under the... Rays Road name for our Kumeu River label. This Chardonnay was hand-harvested, whole bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeast in older French Oak barrels to give a wine that is zesty and fragrant, with mineral complexity that is very true to its site.
