2019 Henschke, Keyneton Euphonium, Barossa 6x75cl

DE93
“A rich, deep nose of sweet, ripe plum and blackcurrant, with mocha. The palate is drier – not as ripe or plush as the nose suggests. Although it's just 25% of the blend, the Cabernet Sauvignon... leads with vivid, fresh blackcurrant and cassis notes plus tobacco and graphite undertones. The plum emerges with air and has a certain viscosity, but not the sweetness of jam. Dusty tannins firm up on the finish.” Drink 2024-2039 93 points, Sarah Ahmed, www.decanter.com “The 2019 Keyneton Euphonium leads with dried rose petals and pomegranate molasses, sumac, bone broth and salted licorice. In the mouth, the wine has a salty, soy/Lion's Mane character, alongside the cassis and bramble. The wine is lighter and finer than I would expect from this season, and it has a silky flow in the mouth. It has an Italianate character to the wine: it is savory and spicy, with very fine acidity and some floral high notes here. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.” Drink 2024-2039 92 points, Erin Larkin, www.robertparker.com “Full screwcapped bottle 1,233 g. 52% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 11% Merlot grown in the Barossa (Eden Valley and Barossa Valley regions). Harvest 26 February to 16 April. Matured in 17% new and 83% seasoned (80% French, 20% American) oak hogsheads for 18 months prior to blending and bottling. TA 6.1 g/l, pH 3.59. The 2015 was a wine of the week in 2020. Transparent, shaded garnet. Very mellow, well-integrated blend. Very luxuriously textured. Well-judged blend that's already approachable. Blackcurrants, blackberries and sagebrush. Lots of drive and when you taste this, you do wonder where they are going to go next, upwards the price scale. What's wrong with this? Many congratulations to the Henschke family and their growers. Very long. Went beautifully with roast beef.” Drink 2024-2034 17.5 points, Jancis Robinson MW, www.jancisrobinson.com

2013 Henschke, Mount Edelstone Shiraz, Eden Valley 6x75cl

DE97
“This Museum & Rare Collection release maintains a firm but fine backbone of polished tannins which, together with the youthful primary fruit (predominantly black), brings potency and great... presence to the palate. Sage, winter greens and underripe strawberry lend nuance and freshness. There is subtle viscosity too, with tertiary tapenade character and nutty, savoury oak. But there's plenty of mileage here too, with mouth-coating tannins and cleansing acidity to the finish.” Drink 2024-2043 97 pts., Sarah Ahmed, www.decanter.com “The 2013 Mount Edelstone Vineyard Shiraz hails from a drought year—it was tough. In fact, the 2014 Edelstone was released before the 2013. Yet now, we look at this wine, 11 years from harvest, and the wine is svelte and seamless in its flow of flavor across the palate, with pomegranate molasses, alpine mint, dried herbs, a hint of arnica, rose petals and black cherry. It is chewy, elegant and spiced. It's a lovely wine that has decades to go. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under Vinolok. As it happens, the 2024 vintage is Henschke's 156th vintage. Pretty remarkable.” Drink 2024-2048 96+ pts., Erin Larkin, www.robertparker.com

JR98-100
"Huge intensity of burgundian red-berry fruit. Explodes on the palate. Layers of fruit with oh-so-fine tannins and amazing freshness and length on the finish. Real persistence aromatically. Powerful but elegant and restrained. Huge potential for ageing." 17.5 pts., James Lawther MW, www.jancisrobinson.com

"90% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre. Aged 18 months in foudres. Organic. Cask sample. Reticent nose with just the semblance of dark and red fruit. Palate rich and intense, the fruit concentrated, the tannins powerful and long. Freshness on the finish. Clearly built for ageing." 17+ pts., www.jancisrobinson.com

2017 Henschke, Mount Edelstone Shiraz, Eden Valley 6x75cl

RP95
"Hung deli meat, star anise and blackberry adorn the nose of the 2017 Mount Edelstone Vineyard Shiraz. Discerning this is akin to peering over the counter at an Italian deli, with meat, cheeses and... garlic hanging from the ceiling: it's enveloping and welcome. On the palate, the wine is bright and concentrated, with layers of salted blueberry, licorice and staunch (yet fine) tannins. It has flexibility and pliability, but it also has shape and form—all of it encased in a medium-bodied shell. It is savory and lean above all else, with bacon fat adorning all edges." 95+ pts., Erin Larkin, robertparker.com

2018 Giovanni Almondo, Roero, Bric Valdiana 6x75cl

VM92
The Almondo family have been in Piedmont for the past 600 years, yet their foray into winemaking only dates to 1980 when Domenico came up with an ambitious plan to create top quality wine from their... family vineyard. The result is superb, and the Roero Bric is a Nebbiolo-based red cuvée that will age beautifully and represents a stunning value alternative to the more famous names across the Tanaro river, Barbaresco or Barolo. The 2021 exhibits tell-tale floral and sweet yet crunchy red cherry aromatics, with hints of peppery spice. Lovely mouthfill and power, this is very pleasant now and will improve for the next 5 to 7 years. (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2020 Penfolds, Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz, South Australia 6x75cl

RP94
"The Barossa has the ability to convey a sense of place, dirt and air in the glass. The trick is to not get in the way—a cooper does not terroir make. Despite not being the dominant region in this... blend (for specificity: McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Padthaway and Clare Valley), the Barossa makes a potent contribution. Here, in the 2020 Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz, the concentrated, dry and warm vintage is on show and provides a splay of earthy, dense fruit, stretched over a framework of savory tannin. Despite Penfolds's reputation for big tannins/big oak, the fruit here overpowers both and streams out over the long finish. The heart of Barossa is here. Very good. Will get better." 94 pts., Erin Larkin, robertparker.com

2018 Glenelly, Lady May, Stellenbosch 6x75cl

RP95+
"Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with 3% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and the remainder Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Lady May is firm and red-fruited with a broad yet compact frame. Medium to full-bodied, the wine... is generous and juicy on the palate with a robust frame. It is slightly shy in its cocoon phase and should reemerge in about five years and remain a stoic and epic South African red blend for decades to come. This is what you want in your cellar. 2028-2050". 95+ pts., Anthony Mueller, www.robertparker.com

2016 La Rioja Alta, Vina Ardanza Reserva, Rioja 6x75cl

RP94
"The 2016 Viña Ardanza Reserva was produced with 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha that matured in used American oak barrels for three years, where it was hand-racked from barrel to barrel six times... in the case of Tempranillo and five times for the Garnacha, as it had a slightly shorter élevage of 30 months. Against all odds, I found the 2016 to be fresher than the 2015 and less developed, despite the fact that winemaker Julio Sáenz told me he considers it a warmer year. But I have found many wines I like in 2016, and the wine feels very clean and quite harmonious, younger and less developed, with more primary notes and a velvety mouthfeel. 600,000 bottles produced. The wine was bottled in June 2020." 94+ pts., Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

2020 le Clos du Caillou, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Les Quartz 6x75cl

JR17
"Deepest colour of the four Clos du Caillou cuvées (plenty of Syrah). The aromatics are again restrained but there’s an attractive pitch of fruit and a spicy note that grows with aeration. Rich... and sweet, the fruit really concentrated on the palate. Tannins firm but very fine and completely interwoven with the fruit. Another for ageing." 17 pts., www.jancisrobinson.com

2020 Paul Jaboulet Aine, Hermitage, La Maison Bleue 6x75cl

DE92VM93-95
“Mostly sourced from les Murets, the 2020 Hermitage La Maison Bleue is a solid effort, with appealing notes of blackberries, raspberries and espresso on the nose. It's full-bodied and rich, yet... streamlined and focused, with savory tones of black olives appearing on the softly dusty finish. It should drink well young, yet age well for more than a decade.” 92-94 pts, Joe Czerwinski, www.robertparker.com, (Drink 2023-2035)

2017 San Polino, Brunello di Montalcino, Helichrysum 6x75cl

"Unique aromas of dried flowers and sandalwood with ripe black cherries. Breath-taking. It’s full bodied yet rather agile and weightless with fine dusty tannins that float across the palate. Wonderfully done for this difficult vintage. Gorgeous and delectable now. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold." 96 pts., James Suckling (Nov, 2021)

2018 Domaines Barons de Rothschild & Nicolas Catena, Caro, Mendoza 6x75cl

VM95
Formed in 1999, Bodega Caro (precious in Spanish) represents a partnership between two of the wine world’s more elite profiles pursuing the supreme expression of their respective legacies and in... terms of Mendoza-based terroir. In more tangible terms, this means producing and blending the purest, most sublime Mendoza cabernet sauvignon and malbec their combined expertise and experience can accomplish. Authentic Argentinian identity with world-class Bordelais style. In maturation, the wine generally spends 18 months in oak, 80% of which new, and interestingly, blending proportions can vary dramatically, depending upon vintage conditions. In the case of the 2018 Caro, it is 76% malbec and 36% cabernet sauvignon, both coming from Paraje Atlamira in the Uco Valley.
