2021 Comte Armand, Bourgogne Aligote 6x75cl

"Fine, floral, refreshing, aged in stainless steel tank and large wooden foudre, thus imbuing an enticing hint of spice on the finish. With part of the blend provided by 90-year-old vines, here is intriguing intensity and yet more proof of what an exciting time it is for Burgundian Aligoté." (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Benjamin Leroux, Saint-Romain, Sous le Chateau 6x75cl

JM88-90
"There was enough fruit to make use of a good mix of barrel shapes and sizes, as St-Romain was not much frosted. Pale colour with a light green tint. Fresh bouquet, some lime blossom, good tension... here with a mineral backbone, and an attractive finish. Drink from 2024-2027. Tasted: October 2022" 4 stars, 88-90 pts, Jasper Morris MW, www.insideburgundy.com

2021 Benjamin Leroux, Meursault, Blanc 6x75cl

The 2021 Meursault Village has a crisp, clean walnut and dried honey bouquet with hints of peach coming through. The palate is well balanced with a real race to the acidity, giving it a focus and exceptional tensile strength. It has the elegance of a Puligny but the power of its village. Delicious.

2021 Benjamin Leroux, Bourgogne, Blanc 6x75cl

In this cuvée Benjamin masterfully blends fruit from mostly Meursault, with some higher altitude chardonnay from the hills above Beaune. This adds real fitness and gives a Bourgogne Blanc of real... class. Large, old oak fermenting vessels and lees ageing help keep this wine remarkably fresh and elegant, with just a hint of warm butter and the fresh zing of citrus loveliness. Superb value. Very famous for its elegance, and from it Benjamin, using the considerable Volnay experience he amassed at the helm of Domaine du Comte... Armand, delivers a 1er cru of seamless balance, with power at its core and notes of lightly roasted coffee and vibrant floral notes lifting the rich red fruit centre. Superb.

2021 Benjamin Leroux, Savigny-les-Beaune 6x75cl

Gorgeous pinot purity on the nose, giving crushed strawberry, rose petal and a wisp of vanilla. Rounded on the palate, medium-bodied, with marmalade notes tinging the dark berry fruit. Deliciously bitter red/dark cherry finishing up. Superb.

2021 Benjamin Leroux, Bourgogne, Rouge 6x75cl

Made primarily from fruit taken from the Côte de Beaune and aged mostly in foudres with a small percentage of new wood, this has a delicious morello cherry and hedgerow fruit nose. Its intensity and balance are exceptional for an entry level cuvee, and it is persistent with its pleasure-giving already.

2021 Clos des Papes, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rouge 6x75cl

JR18
“Leather and spiced notes, pure with good fresh vivacity on the nose. The palate is ripe and seductive, layered with forest fruits, dark spiced figs. Attractive refreshing acidity, red fruits and a... wild garrigue savoury Mourvèdre note – the tannins are supple and silky – dark forest-fruits finish, which is broad, ample and opulent but always with a finesse of tannins and a savoury liquorice mineral note.” 18 pts., Alistair Cooper MW, jancisrobinson.com

2020 Comte Armand, Volnay Premier Cru, Fremiets 6x75cl

VM92-94
*ON ALLOCATION - £408 per case of 6 bottles IB* One of the very finest producers in all of Burgundy, Domaine du Comte Armand is approaching its 200th anniversary very much at the top of its game.... After Pascal Marchant from 1985 to 1998, Benjamin Leroux from 1999 to 2013, Paul Zinetti is the third highly talented winemaker at the helm of this grand estate, and he is producing wines of rare depth, purity and character. The monumental Clos des Epeneaux, for a long time the only wine produced here, still gives the best Grands Crus a run for their money, but just as impressive is the unbeatable value delivered by the Auxey-Duresses cuvées and the delicacy and perfume of the Volnays. 2021 Raats, MR Mvemve Raats Compostella, Stellenbosch 6x75cl

GS99JS96TA96
“The 2021 MR de Compostella is blended from five components of five Bordeaux varieties from parcels deemed the best for each one, a selection made in the winery to create the final blend, which is... then assessed for whether it deserves to be released. It has a lovely floral bouquet with pressed iris flowers, black cherries, clove and light potpourri scents. The medium-bodied palate has fine tannins, fresh and tensile with layers of minerally black fruit and a very Bordeaux-like, precise finish that lingers in the mouth. As usual, this MR has a wonderful sophistication and will mature gracefully over the next 20 years.” 95 pts., Neal Martin, vinous.com

"Cask sample. Mid crimson. Aroma of sweet oak spice, invitingly fruity – red fruits. Creamy, velvet-like texture, juicy and fresh, lively too. Just a very slight bitterness on the finish, as with the straight Savigny, but that does increase the freshness." 16pts., Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com

2020 Domaine Albert Bichot (Pavillon), Meursault Premier Cru, Charmes 6x75cl

VM88-90
An exciting new addition to our offer a couple of years ago, and continuing on good form in 2020, Domaine Du Pavillon is located south of Pommard in the Côte de Beaune. Just as at Domaine du Clos... Frantin in Nuits-Saint-Georges, they practice organic viticulture with an ongoing respect for the complex equilibrium found in nature. The winery was modernized in 2016, allowing the vinification of more of the Côte de Beaune’s star single vineyard wines. From the 2019 vintage, all the wines from the estate have borne the certified “organic wine” label.

2020 Domaine Albert Bichot (Long-Depaquit), Chablis Grand Cru, Moutonne 6x75cl

JM93-96JR17.5+
*ON ALLOCATION - £570 per case of 6 bottles IB* Domaine Long-Depaquit can be traced back to 1791 when Jean Depaquit and his brother Simon moved to Chablis. They purchased vineyards and developed... their domaine into one of the most renowned producers of Chablis today. Now owned by Albert Bichot in Beaune, Domaine Long-Depaquit offers an impressive range of Premier and Grand Crus. A sustainable approach, limited yields and skilful winemaking creates incredibly invigorating and mineral-edged wines. ‘La Moutonne’, a monopole in the heart of the Grand Cru vineyards, between Vaudésir and Les Preuses is one of their most celebrated cuvées, known for its incredible precision, elegance and staying power. Whichever cuvée you choose, these are delicious, mineral rich Chardonnays of the highest order. Opening the proceedings at a Bichot tasting in London, the 2020 La Moutonne quite simply blew us away. Crushed oyster shell and citrus on the nose, followed on the palate by a superb energy with an exquisite texture. Laser-like, yet with excellent weight and power on the long finish, this is very, very special.

The winemaker included some whole-bunch this year, giving this a lifted, aromatic and floral nose. This is a study in understated elegance and red-fruit driven, classy, delicate Burgundy - yet with plenty of subtle intensity and power on the finish. One for lovers of terroir-specific Burgundy.

2020 Domaine Albert Bichot (Long-Depaquit), Chablis Premier Cru, Les Lys 6x75cl

2021 Yves Boyer-Martenot, Auxey-Duresses, Les Ecussaux 6x75cl

"A new addition to our portfolio from one of the up-and-coming appellations in the Côte d'Or, Vincent's Auxey-Duresses is a blend of 50% 1er Cru fruit and 50% Villages fruit. Pretty, aromatic and... juicy with a lovely weight on the mid-palate and lightly grippy, raspy tannins. Joyful and eminently gluggable yet there is a serious, structured edge that will see it reach its peak at 5-6 years old. " (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)

2021 Boyer Martenot, Bourgogne Aligote 6x75cl

Aligoté. A grape variety that is often ignored or overlooked, but one very much on the rise across the Côte d'Or, and which can be a real delight in the hands of top producers. Vincent’s lovely... example comes from vines in the Meursault region but located on richer and more fertile soils than those reserved for his chardonnay and pinot noir. Deliciously fresh and uplifting with a perfume of apricots and pear, it is a clean and mouth-watering aperitif wine which will also complement seafoods and salads. This could become your new “house wine!” (Mr.Wheeler tasting note)
